I would love the beginning part of this tune !! I could make a song with this. The vocals need compressed and turned down so you can hear it clearly. Otherwise this is a great tune and keep up the good work.

Derby Hat is a smooth jam and peppy number that is a nice song to play in the morning. Band got a good sound and is well produced. Sounds like various jam bands (Widespread Panic, etc). Jam on in 2020!

This is a really cool song! I appreciate a bass line that has more to it than simply keeping the bottom with the drums. I found myself listening to it a couple times. It has a very festive feel in a very progressive way. It may be way too busy for some listeners but I can see how much fun it would be to play together. If you have more songs along this same flow, you have a wonderful style and something worth packaging. I wish you all the best and good luck in the future. Again, great song!

I like the guitar and the drum. The song progresses into a funky type of melody. Then you want to kick up your heels. The vocal is extremely original. The way the vocal is done is also very original. The chorus lyrics are very smartly done. You can almost include this song on an electronic dance floor. There are many genres combined in here. I think it is very intelligently done. I look forward to more original music.

Defenitely very original and personal, it's not something you listen to everyday, and it's probably the most important thing for a band. I love the design of the bass, and also the guitar solos, it's very catchy. The lyrics are very essential, I prefer more elaborated lyrics but it's only my personal taste, it's my only "critique". The voice has a very nice timber. You've done a very good job guys!

The introduction is very much different love the use of the bass guitar that’s as it should be with the bass driving the whole. Percussions are interesting and different than what you normally get. I like the way the vocals just stumble in and takeover. The female vocalist is fabulous and the synchronised male vocal is very precise and tight. In fact the whole thing is produced and engineered with great skill and great expertise it fun whilst being appealing and a seriously good listen. I really recommend it to anyone looking for a great listen

Great mixture of world music influenced by west african tunes with groovy beat. The unique vocals of Meagan Lane come from the heart and touching the soul. The romantic passionated lyrics make the meaning of the song engaging for me. But the whole song is more various. Well elaborated e-guitar riffs and perfect played bass puts one immediately into the right mood. Imaginative transitions, real drums and virtuos guitar solos making the song lively. Overall very creative song and impressive arragement. All instruments are extremely good played and stand out. It´s a unique quintessence of contemporary music with patterns in style of caribbean tunes. I´m sure you will like to add. Let others know your recommendation.

I really liked the song and the playful delivery of the music and vocals i am not sure if the vocals were meant to be delivered in a fun way but I feel it goes along with the song. I look forward to other songs by the group

This song seems a folk song, but with a modern rhythm. The duet is particular, especially in the way to sing of the woman. There's something to ironic and original in this thing, so the song results quiet and positive.

Gritty funk arrangement with an unusual vocal delivery defying definitions, which always captures my interest. Clearly there is something different going on here. More than meets the eye, I would suggest. Perhaps this combo will revive the attention it deserves and that would make me very happy.

This is such a funky jazzy original track full of great timline breaks and rifts which really hook you love the female vocal which punctuate the rythym in sharp hits such a great track lyrics are so sharp and punchy makes me want to steal the sentiments and tuck them under my arm for future reference GREAT !!!

La canción me parece un poco rara. La melodía es muy pobre y extraña, pero se puede escuchar. La parte instrumental está bastante bien, con muchos giros que hacen que la canción sea dinámica. La interpretación vocal es correcta, pero estropea esa melodía la canción, está cantada de manera muy fría, quizá trabajar eso más la canción sería bastante buena. Le doy un aprobado por pelado pero es por ese motivo.

I myself, via 40 some years of experience in the fields, on the road, in the studio, radio, TV, video, and management, consider myself to be a seasoned musician, singer, song writer, studio-sound tech/engineer/ owner/operator, stage manager, find it sometimes hard/difficult and perhaps not even fair to sit in a seat, voicing My Opinion concerning another's creative efforts. Especially in certain genres of music I am not all that familiar with concerning very important elements that make up and meet the required standards to justify the various levels of ratings and grades. So, in saying ALL that, I will limit myself to MY Opinion concerning the quality of the work according to My ears, and the standards I have been familiarized with thru-out the years. I hold to the old - saying " Beauty Is In The EAR of The Beholder ... LOL. The sound quality of the recording over-all is very crisp and bright and clear, I really enjoyed the energy in the music. Vocals are smooth and natural, sort of - down to earth as they say. i like the various expressions in the vocals. The mix levels let me know who was still in charge of this song. Very easy to sit back and listen to. I mean no offense in any part, I myself take all feedback and use it as a tool toward my next project. I pray you feel the same way. Either way, I say to you, keep doing what you do, keep kicking and enjoying what you do. I tell folks all the time for many years. 2nd Story Band's recording of "Derby Hat" is a nice breath of fresh air. It starts with a cool bass-only intro, and builds a tight funk/jazz/world music groove around a solid drummer that stays tight throughout this creative and whimsical romp. The guitarist, bass player, and drummer are all outstanding at their craft. The lyrics also share in the whimsical and creative quality of the piece. The only thing that bugs me about this recording is that the female vocalist, who is perfectly competent, has a style that seems out of keeping with the style of the band behind her. Can't quite put my finger on the disconnect. All in all, it was a pleasure listening.
