About 3NEE SHUGA
Born in 1972, in South Trinidad. Haidy Hoyte is an artist that has emerged in the wake of the some great influences. Such as; that of Machel Montano and the band Xtatic.
Growing up in the small village of the southlands called Los Bajos. Haidy attended the Santa Flora Anglican School and she's quick to mention how she enjoyed her days there. Although she'd playfully join her fellow schoolmates on the playground to sing songs from Best Village, playing Tambo Bamboo and always enjoyed the carnival season. She never took part in it.
Haidy attended the Siparia Junior Secondary School where her favorite teachers were Mrs. Austin, Mrs. Henry and Mr. Omar. All of whom had a great influence on her and are currently a productive part of her life. She wrote her first song while still attending school, but never got to perform it because it was stolen from her book bag. Discouraged after that incident, she didn't decide to attempt writing again until she was an adult. After her time at Siparia Junior Secondary School she moved on to Siparia Senior Secondary; which Haidy describes as memorable times. While there, she never had the encouragement or drive for writing music nor singing; which she had once loved. Most of the other girls were into hair and makeup, but she was involved in sports and even joined the girl’s football team. Haidy then spent the rest of her teenage years and early adult life in Siparia.
Her passion for singing was re-discovered at the age of 25; but she was reluctant to pursue it. Accrediting her mother - Stephanie Hoyte for being one of her first musical inspirations. Remembering how she would have them sing every Saturday while playing the comb. It was not until meeting her friend Soca, also known as Collin Straker, did she realize that she had a real love and passion for singing. Collin would take her to band practice, there she would listen to Machel Montano and the Xtatic crew rehearse from time to time. Haidy enjoyed the vibe and watched them have fun doing what they love to do. It was at that moment she realized that this is something she wanted to be a part of.
Haidy migrated to the United States, seeking better opportunities and a brighter future for herself and family. The transition was bitter sweet, but in the end it paid off. The first job she ever held was as a liaison for a Passport and Visa company. She enjoyed her job, but something kept tugging at her heart when it came to music. She met with Baby Face Eastwood through a mutual friend. While hanging out they would practice their music and she would chime along. It was only then that they took notice of her voice and approached her to do background vocals on some songs, as well as whenever he performed live.
After several performances together, he realized that she had a talent for harmonizing, which could blend perfectly with any lead singer. Haidy quickly graduated from backup singer to co-writer and eventually singing duets. The first song Haidy made was called “Why”. Which was produced by Rodney James, also known as “Remmy”, who also happened to be her youngest brother. By this time, Haidy Hoyte was being called “3NEE SHUGA”. The stage name she stuck with until this present day. They performed and showcased their co-written songs, “Party Noice” and “Watching Meh". They met their first producer Nicholas Antoine, a former trumpet player for the band Xtatic, who instantly took a liking to their musical form and writing capabilities. He started working on the song “Party Noice” and produced it for them.
Moving forward, "3NEE SHUGA" began to work with producer Chevon Messiah "TwisT", of the Aqua Studio for around two years or more. Haidy "3Nee Shuga" Hoyte lives, sleeps and breathes soca music. Whenever presented with a rhythm to work on, she would have the song done within a day or two. Not just because she enjoys it. Music truly fuels her passion for life. Most of her songs were written well before she could even find a rhythm. As long as she has a melody... it’s considered done.
"3Nee Shuga" is currently being managed by Curenton Communications, Inc. Her goals and dreams are to help bring Soca music to the masses within the entertainment world. She wishes to fuse the vintage with the new. Inspired to help others fulfill their dreams, aspirations and to prove to the world that it’s never too late to be who you want to be. Haidy has plans to take soca music worldwide and hopes to do so alongside other motivated artists as well. Having her own management company, where she can assist and work with other artists to uplift the soca industry and to help them map out their future - is also a vision for her.
Having genuine friends, the moral support of some family members and children that continue to be her main force, due to hearing them speak about her (Their Mother), and her singing, gives her great joy and satisfaction. They still light up when they see her perform on stage and constantly encouraging her to perform at events; which ultimately makes her heart smile.
