Where it all began...
15 years ago, right outside the city of Philadelphia, Hip-Hop found me. A little boy, new to the scene who enjoyed all types of rap music from the hardcore sound of DMX, to the flow and poetic rhythm of Jay-Z and Outkast. I grew up under legends such as Tupac & Biggie Smalls. It was the sound of the Golden Era of Hip-Hop that first influenced me and others around me. I would hang with them and repeat its lyrics, imitating its style, even though we didn't fully understand what it meant yet. But what really got me started as a rap artist in Hip-Hop was the influence of a popular artist at the time by the name of "Cassidy" who had just dropped a single called "I'm A Hustla". It was his style and use of back-to-back punchlines that would capture my attention and later became a part of my own rap style. And so, I started to write my first rhyme on a 3x5 notecard. Scribbling it out in pencil. From there it was a series of ups & downs. At times I would write a lot, and at other times very little, but music always stayed with me. Many times I would freestyle or rap battle with friends for fun to showcase who had the most skill. Then, I started to take my music more seriously. At sixteen I dropped my first mixtape, "The Prospect of Tomorrow". With a notebook full of rhymes, my very first cardiod mic, a pole, and some other supplies, I was able to successfully record my music with the help of my friends. And that was only just the beginning. Almost every year later I recorded a mixtape, and they only got better. I started to book studio time, and as my sound improved so did my fan base. Years later, here I am, working with Bnb Entertainment on my first two albums (see songs on profile), doing live performances. As you can see I've come a long way, and I don't plan on stopping. I only plan to build upon what has already been started. With one goal in mind, creating good music fans can enjoy listening to, I give you my best. Expressing myself through music in hopes that others find expression in my music as well. To me that is the greatness in art.
Thank you to all my loyal fans. I know it's been tough.
Thank you for continually supporting my music.
Sincerely,
Jay Bias
