DRIFTA' is the music I feel in my heart and soul . I started playing bass guitar in a rent space at the JamBox in Queen anne, Seattle Wa. I was invited to jam with a neighbor who was an amazingly diverse percussionist, and a very kind person. He helped me with my performance and self esteem issues and Before I new it we were recording listenable jams. He passed the rental of the space to me because he had to move ,so i started going every day. I would lay on the thick shag carpet on the floor in the dark or very low light, while buzzing hard on psychedelics and or shrooms and record (expired link) was a rough start but i analy,ed all recordings quickly and edited the parts i lined into loops and started messing with PC AUDIO software to experiment with arrangement and loop combinations. I was also experimenting witb a variety of tunings and every effect pedal combination and order i could buy or borrow. Untill acter a few weeks of the solo playing through s crappy head and my custom 2x twelve inch speaker cabinet, I opened my door and was astonished to see 10-14 people from other rehearsal rooms in the hall staring at me. I was so embarassed. I was expecting to be scolded for sounding terrible and/or being too loud. But every one was kind and positive, and mostly wanted to see my gear, a couple asking if i would like to jam. I was happy to show off my stuff, scared to hell of going to a room with people i didnt know to play their songs or god forbid freestyle. I made a few plans to jam and flaked on all of them. I walked the halls and listened to other bands often and ended up making some cool friends and learned alot as I watched them practice, which lessened my fear of jamming with new people. I first met the drummer that would see me through from solo introverted studio noise maker to playing fearlessly in front of people with absolutely no real songs or sober practice, his name is Jake Pahlman(the genius singing drummer), he was the foundation of my on stage confidence and musical identity. I by no means believe my music is better than any other type or style. I am ultimately pretty shy and I tend to be own worse critic. I will endlessly categorize myself as a one trick pony , or a complete accident or fluke. I do believe there is nothing quite like (expired link)
