About EVA Violin
Eva started her musical career at the Music Academy in her native city of Turnhout with J. Janssens. Afterwards she continued her studies at the National Music Academy of Antwerp with D; Mijajve where she received her Gold Medal. At the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp, Eva obtained her 'First Prize Violin' and 'Chamber Music' with great distinction, also with Déjan Mijajev. She continued her studies at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels where she obtained her Master Diploma in violin with Philippe Hirshorn.
After her studies in Belgium, Eva perfected herself abroad and in 1999 obtained a 'Performance Diploma' violin at the 'Peabody Conservatory' of The John Hopkins University in Baltimore (USA) with Violaine Melançon (a pupil of Galamian). In the United States, Eva performed as a soloist, in duo with pianist Jésus Gomez, as a member of the Philadelphia chamber orchestra Concerto Soloist's (Curtis institute), the opera company Academy of Vocal Arts and the string quartet Elixir (Philadelphia).
She has already performed at various international festivals such as the famous Princeton Opera Festival in New Jersey and chamber music festivals in Vermont (USA), Santander and Lausanne. She also attended masterclasses with great personalities such as H. Krebbers, C. Serban, B. Kaplan, P. Vernikov, M. Lubotsky, C. Romano, E. Kawaguti, A. Leon Ara, U. Gorniak, C. Maycomber and M. Fatkulin.
Since her return to Belgium in 2000, Eva has played in orchestras such as the Antwerp Philharmonic, Flemish Radio Orchestra, National Orchestra, Flemish Opera and as a member of the chamber orchestra “the Beethoven Academy”. But she remained mainly active in chamber music. In 2001 she became co-founder and conductor of the amateur string orchestra de Turnhoutse Snaar, violinist of the “Duo Amabile” with pianist Kim van den Brempt (concerts at home and abroad including a live performance for Radio-Klara, performance for Queen Fabiola and CD recording Amabile) and second violinist of the Kryptos String Quartet (they performed for the Flanders Festival, Radio Klara in the Palace, Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival in Finland and reached the Finale at the Shostakovitch String Quartet Competition in
Moscow). With this quartet she participated in masterclasses with the Alban Berg quartet, the Keller quartet, G. Kurtàg and the Danel quartet.
From 2005, Eva first became violin in the Kirke string quartet (concert series in cultural centers, tour with Les Ballets C de la B by Alain Platel with production Import/Export conducted by choreographer Koen Augustijnen in collaboration with counter tenor Steve Dujardin (2006-2008), recording live CD for Les Ballets C de la B (2007), live on Radio and TV With the Kirke quartet also founded at the Orpheus Institute and the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel.
That same year, Eva also founded the string orchestra 'Donnacorda ensemble'. From which the Donnacorda String Quartet originated in 2008.
With Donnacorda String Quartet by Eva to this day in various Cultural Centers all over Belgium and the EU.
In the summer of 2014 they performed in Wengen (Switzerland) in octet with the famous Prazak String Quartet at the "Menselssohn Musikwoche". In November 2014 Donnacorda also recorded a CD on “The American” in the Singel in Antwerp. This CD can be heard regularly on Radio Klara.
With the Turnhoutsenaar and Donnacorda ensemble, Eva has been contracting several times a year for international audiences since 2018 with a classical to film music and opera program (with soprano Hanne Roos) in beautiful locations such as Amuz and Carolus Boromeuskerk in Antwerp, Abdij Drongen and De Duif in Amsterdam. .
Eva has also taught violin at the Kunsthumaniora stArt in Turnhout since 2010 and has been a violinist in the Tirzah Quartet since 2011. Eva also performs in various other chamber music formations such as duo violin-guitar, violin-harp with Duo Tirzah and Trio Donnacorda Violin-Harp and cello or soprano.
Since 2017, Eva has formed the Claver Duo together with the pianist. They form a unique violin-piano duo in search of the passion and story behind the music. In 2020 they launched their CD Underwood and in 2021 they created the proposal "De Viool van Einstein" with the help of the Flemish government.
Since 2018, Eva has also been a member of Le Hot Club Campine, where four Kempen musicians with an outspoken love for gypsy jazz (manouche) found. Le Hot Club de Campine, inspired by Le Quintette du Hot Club de France, the famous quintet of Django Reinhardt and Stéphane Grappelli, brings infectious gypsy swing jazz in the best tradition.
