About GClair
Hailing from the Caribbean Island of Barbados, Gregory St. Clair, better known by his stage name G Clair is a contemporary Caribbean fusion Gospel and R&B artist. An eclectic and prolific artist, G Clair’s mesmerizing musical compositions exude rich influences of Calypso, Tuk, Spouge, Soca, and African rhythms, blended seamlessly alongside catchy and memorable Funk.
The promising artist started a career in music as a percussionist (congas), being one of the founding members of the now-defunct rhythmic percussion group ‘The Cannibals’. The artistic collective was able to garner several awards at NIFCA (National Independence Festival of Creative Arts)- a prestigious music and art festival which is held every November in the island-nation.
In 1983- 84, G Clair entered into the Calypso arena, enthralling listeners with his flow and captivating compositions. Years later, after embracing the Christian faith, G Clair found himself taking new turns in life, and took up rhythm and bass guitars, returning once again to song writing. Having penned and released 11 refreshing, original singles, with eight being instrumentals, G Clair has shared his talents with the world on all major streaming platforms including Soundcloud and Spotify.
Inspired by an eclectic range of musicians, artists, singers, and songwriters including Marcus Miller Dr. Anthony (Gabby) Carter, Richard (Bill) Even, and Dr. Nicholas Branker of Barbados, G Clair hopes to create unparalleled, impactful records.
With countless singles such as “When the King Comes”, “Keep the Faith”, “Ransomed”, “Eyes on you”, “Cool of Even'”, “Drifter”, and “Thank you Lord” already creating a storm in the Funk, R&B and Gospel world, G Clair hopes to continue his experimental journey. The artist has also released an original EP titled, ‘Eyes on You’ on SoundCloud, and has extensive experience performing live. Some of his many showcases include participating in a musical tour of Philadelphia, the Ogun festival, NIFCA, and the Crop Over festival tents in Barbados.
G Clair has also been graced with gold and silver awards in NIFCA for his exceptional musical talents. Currently the artist is looking forward to continuing his mission of sharing the Gospel through music as much as God empowers his endeavors.
