Song Reviews

Rabble Rousing

Helpful

Thankx for the review request - hmmm, a rather unusual and very different song, the intro immediately reminded me of early Pink Floyd, even the title, with shades of Donovan in the vocal mix. I liked the guitar chords, and especially enjoyed the consistent background lead guitar riffs, very nicely done. The vocals, are a little bit mono-syllabilic , but in a song with this style of singing and timing, this is to be expected. The drumming was also well fitted into the song, the bass on occasion dropped just a little bit in volume, but not enough to detract from the song. All in all - I liked this song, good job.

Rabble Roll

The music starts out kinda dark as if recorded in an alley late at night. With the help of other musicians it develops into an interesting observation of life in middle America at Dawn

I Agree

Helpful

I agree with one of your previous reviewers (Richard) that this is a nicely delivered song. The only point I would make as a solid listener, is that the delivery seems a bit delayed, I am not sure if you planned it that way but that is what I hear. I am, by no means being critical of the song, but as a writer from a different genre, it just appears that way. I listen to ALL TYPES of music and certainly give props where they are due, therefore as a fellow writer let me close by saying...You did a good job with this one. Salute!

una bella carica

mi piacciono la melodia e i riff di chitarre, non capisco bene il testo ma penso che dovresti lavorare un po' sulla voce, hai un bel timbro ma in alcuni punti è un po' troppo incerta e toglie incisività al brano.

Interesting music, nice lyrics!

Nice weird guitars. Sounds like a live recording. Better mixing required. I really like the over all sound, and lyrics! Has some 60's sounding influence, vocals need mixing down into the music, mastering would help your sound a lot. Reminds me of Pink Floyd.

Layers of intrigue

Helpful

There's a mystical, seductive quality about this song that traps me as a listener. The lyrics are interesting and bewildering -- philosopher's stone, alchemy -- can't make it all out but the suspicion is poetry. The composition is fine, not very linear or venturous in chord progression, but harmonically involved and rather fascinating texturally. Constructive criticism has to do with the mix: Some of the instrumental sub-layers should be closer to the surface. The material suggests taking a dynamic approach to this. Trying bringing various parts up in the mix intermittently. The harmonica early on, for example. Let the layers take turns at prominence. An evolving, morphing mix would suit the mystical nature of the composition. Play around with the track faders and see if any further magic happens.

I was intrigued by the the enigmatic title of this song. I've reviewed several songs on this platform and have found it genuinely hard to find anything complementary to say. Thank goodness this is not the case here. You have managed to created a sombre, yet exciting arrangement which fully complements to sentiment in the lyric. It's great to hear someone adventuring into unusual conceptual territory. So many of the N1M songs stay well within the confines of well-worn cliche. I particularly enjoyed the solo guitar parts, which play an indispensable role in creating the mood. Your vocals sit well in the mix and have the timbre to deliver the lyrics with total conviction. Thank you Irp Snerple for this song and I wish you well with your musical ambitions. All the best from an Englishman in Berlin.
