About Acoustra

Acoustra are a four piece trad/rock fusion band from Limerick City in Ireland. They have been playing together for 20 years on the live music scene and writing songs together for the best part of 15 years. Instruments that are used in their sound consist of Acoustic guitars, electric guitars, bass, piano, drums, percussion and a very unique style of accordion playing. The accordion player runs his sound through an on stage guitar effects pedal equipt with a waa-waa pedal to give a very original sound indeed.

They have been continuously writing through the years and record mainly in their home based studios. They work a lot with their swedish-based Irish friend Kieran O Loughlin who lives in Stockholm. When Kieran comes home he records with them and takes all tracks back to Stockholm where he mixes, masters and generally put his own magic into their sound be it through performances of his own or just his in-genius touch on the final product.

Each member of the band bring different styles and genres of music to their original material. One idea from a member gets "Acoustrafied" and what you hear is the end product of an un-imaginable clustering of unique styles of playing. They continue to reside in Ireland and they all have their own families and lives and jobs separate to the band.
