Native Americans Making History At Standing Rock!
Not one to normally get involved in modern day politics as a general rule although I must admit I have been filled with pride at how the Lakota-Sioux Nation and Native Americans from all nations across the USA have stood their ground against the Dakota Access Oil Pipeline at Standing Rock in North Dakota.
This is the largest gathering of native people since the occupation of Wounded Knee in western South Dakota in 1973. I guess Sitting Bull, Crazy Horse and other Lakota Freedom Fighters from the recent past would be proud of their people and the stand they were taking to secure clean drinking water for themselves and also future generations. Also they are trying to protect sacred burial sites in the region as well.
It is not only a issue for native people but for people from all cultures and different walks of life. For without clean water there will be no life for the human population that inhabits this beautiful planet that we live on. Andrew Hogarth.
