APJ, an accomplished saxophonist and vocalist, has been performing professionally
since the age of 12. Singing since the age of 4 and playing the saxophone since the age of 9,
he is a dedicated and well respected musician. Starting out in the Gospel genre of music, he has performed with such names as the Jackson Southernaires, the Gospel Keynotes, the Mighty Clouds of Joy, Mary Mary and Bill Moss and the Celestials, of which his mother was an original member.
He spent several years with an amazing group known as Gentlemen for Christ where he honed his skills of on stage performing. Soon after he would try his hand on the R & B scene where he would play for stars such as, Nikki Gilbert of Brownstone, Dave Hollister, Deborah Cox, Blu Cantrell,
Brian McKnight, Stokely of Mint Condition, Loose Ends, Stevie Wonder, Javier, the Mary Jane
Girls, the Brothers Johnson, Michael Henderson, Ray Parker, Jr. , the Calloway Bros. and Slum Village just to name a few. “Big Nasty”, as he is affectionately known, has performed all over the world and has wowed crowds in Japan, South Korea, Okinawa, Hawaii, Guam, Greece and the Kwajelin Atoll, in the Marshall Islands. He has graced such great stages as The Gibson Amphitheatre, the Vault 350, the House of Blues, B.B. King’s Blues Club and various clubs and arenas all throughout the world.
Formerly he was the music director and saxophonist for the band the Paris Escovedo Project,
lead by Paris Escovedo of the famed Escovedo Family. Their first album was released in 2010. He is also featured on the 2011 album release Pamela Miles & Milestone - Making Music.
In April of 2016 APJ released his first solo album, TIME, which is a hot
mix of Smooth Jazz, R & B and soulful romantic ballads. You definitely do not want to miss
