About Aruanda Quinteto

Aruanda Quinteto are a quintet from Oporto. The project began on 2015 and, since then, they have been performing in several venues. The repertoire approach wants to settle on a research about the several phases of Bossa nova and of MPB, making a re-reading of its own on the themes of these aesthetic movements. These are performed, respecting their composition and execution process, as well as the symbiosis and balance achieved at the relationship between melody, harmony and text, according to the characteristic patterns of Bossa Nova's conception phase. Following this line, none of the musicians overlays the other, all elements of composition are emphasized.
The guitar, as the instrument which was at the genesis of this movement, approaches its own evolution, from the rythms conceived by João Gilberto to the great revitalization by Toquinho, that would come to place it in a technical frontier between classical and popular, in the Baden-Powell line.
The concerts by Aruanda Quinteto are characterized by an intimate atmosphere, re-interpreting compostions by authors like Antonio carlos Jobim, Vinicius de Moraes, Toquinho, Baden Powell, Chico Buarque and Caetano Veloso, among others.

Aruanda Quinteto. Grupo formado na cidade do Porto em 2015. O repertório abordado pretende assentar numa pesquisa das várias fases da Bossa Nova e da MPB, fazendo uma releitura própria dos temas destes movimentos estéticos. Estes são executados respeitando o seu processo de composição e execução, bem como a simbiose e equilíbrio conseguidos na relação entre melodia, harmonia e texto, de acordo com os padrões característicos da fase de concepção da Bossa Nova. No último ano o grupo tem vindo a apresentar-se ao vivo com um tributo a Chico Buarque.
