Aseiq (pronounced "A-zay-ik)

Aseiq was born Markel Stevenson on May 7, 1986, in Marianna, Arkansas. Growing up in the small town of Helena-West Helena, Arkansas, Aseiq always knew that music would be in his heart, but everything changed for him at the tender age of six years old. "I started in the church. My mom is a very religious woman and so was I. I was very active in church and it started with leading a song in the choir. From there, it was a wrap...." Aseiq's love for the church and for music grew as he grew older. At age fourteen, he wrote his first song entitled "Don't Give Up", a song he explains, "was written to uplift the people who were chasing a dream like I was". "I've always said nothing in this world worth having comes easy, and we as people must remember that and never sway from what we want to make us happy". Later in his education in music, he learned to produce instrumentals in high school by peers in a hip hop based after school program he joined. From that point, Aseiq has produced and co-produced a numerous amount of local albums under indie label "Out Tha Frame Entertainment", founded by his cousins. He later learned the craft of building and created the brainchild of his own company, 689 Entertainment. Now Aseiq is working toward making his own moves and growing his company and craft. "My mission in life is to do what I need to in order to simply be happy. I truly believe that God wants us to be happy with the ideas of what we wanted to do as children. It's up to us as humans to realize that WE own the potential, and if we choose to let our minds push us forward instead of hold us back, the possibilities are endless..."
