Song Reviews
Folk Song Worth to Listen to
The song has a simple, stripped-down arrangement based on the singer's voice and acoustic guitar. This allows the listener to focus on the singer's voice, which is clear, strong, and emotive. The singer has a beautiful voice that is reminiscent of 60s singer Melanie (she was also from NY). She has a warm, soulful tone that is perfect for this type of music. The songwriting is also excellent. The lyrics convey a sense of longing and hope. The melody is catchy and memorable, and it complements the lyrics perfectly. The production is also flawless. The sound is clear and well-balanced, and there is no unnecessary clutter. The song is mixed so that the singer's voice is front and center, and the guitar is supporting her perfectly. Overall, this is a stunning acoustic song recording. The singer has a beautiful voice, the songwriting is excellent, and the production is flawless.

Bird with a broken wing Lauren Rathburn
Bird with a broken wing by Lauren Rathburn, it's was a delight to be asked to review such a well crafted song that has me reminiscing about the likes of the great female singer/song writers Carol King ,Carly Simon and the like. Concise lyrical movement and moments of soaring chorus and a well rounded production add to the flavour of this well constructed tune.

nice tune
interesting composition, very sensible melody, rather typical of the genre. typical for that type of storytelling genre, I should say... vocalist is quite good, and her tone, and styling really brings you into the song, and especially the story. great job there..... and then.... you guys hit the big chorus and the song builds and turns into more of a rock song, real nice touch there, which all goes back to me says nice composition .... The production could be a bit cleaner, and more defined in the rock section.... but it's the song, and the singer's delivery and feeling that matter the most anyway.

Pleasant Earnest story
Passionate story of love lost and life going on.Electric guitar made a pleasant addition and the chorus doesn't hold anything back. Nicely trained vocals with cute lyrics that sometimes go to the obvious rhyme. The guitars kick it into the rock genre with the hints of more traditional almost folk song.

Bird with a broken wing review
This song starts out in a smooth standard format with nice guitar picking with a strong vocal for the verse. It gradually grows in the track with piano in the third verse before finally coming in with the chorus. I would have suggested bringing the chorus in after the second verse or a short instrumental break just to change the repetitiousness of three verses coming at the listener before something else happens. Shy of that, the song built continuously to the end and finished very strong. Nice job! Keep up the great work and good luck going forward in the future.

Bird With a Broken Wing
I like your vocal quality, good range, solid performance. Reminds me a little bit of Anne Murray in the early 70's. Production values are also really good. Good lyrics. Keep up the good work!!!

Beautiful Song
Wish the background vocals stood out a bit more. Similarly the bass and overall low end. Also wish we could hear the bite of the snare and the pump of the kick a little better, the drums are sort of buried in the mix.

Good Song
First, Very good quality recording and mix. Vocals are powerful and excellent tone in your voice. Harmony is spot on. Guitars are very good, as the rest of the musicians. Really like the song.

Bird with a broken wing Lauren Rathbun
!Bird with a Broken Wing Lauren Rathbun. Young pals music appears to be some sort of small record lable so there are several artist on thier number 1 music page. Laura Rathburn release the song reminds of 60-70s sort of Joan Baez vain. Both the voice and instrumentation is fairly good. But on first listen it seemed there was seemed something wrong. The song is good enough that this deserves careful consideration. I have found that sometimes sings influenced by a setback or oppresion sometimes end up a listen to it once in a while sorts of songs. Months later I have found myself thinking this lyric was just not as good as thought it was. I don't always consider someone elses lyrics as this is about artisic freedom. But the line about quantified had me wondering what does that mean. But the bigger problem holding this song back for more commercail potential is the line "like a bird with a broken wing" There are different ways this could go but I beieve it should be "I'm not a bird with a broken wing" There is a saying that goes A bird with a broken wing is a dead bird. This is because the bird will either be eaten by a fox or dog or strarve.

Absolutely lovely song, lyrics, voice and melody
I really enjoyed this. I love the boldness and clarity (yet softness of the voice). Piano and guitar keeping custom and tradition. The electric guitar adding a meat loaf type of feel, but sat on the joyful piano chords throughout. Great song. Well carried vocally through to the climax.

Heal That Broken Wing
One of the things I enjoy most about Number One Music artists is the newfound ability to hear music from around the world by singers who I'd never have the chance to listen to otherwise. That, in itself, is a great thing. Here, with this song with the simple arrangements allows the vocals pure and clear delivery to shine bright. Well mixed and produced, I'd expect to hear this song performed at a small neighborhood coffee house on a Friday night listening with friends.

Do not run too fast or fly too high...this fine female vocalist with band does a good job
I always revieuw when playing the song. Clear fine vocal. I like "normal" songs sung from the heart without wanting be a copy from a copy from a copy. The recordings sounds good, you can always compare with a reference track you like. As a live gig you should have no problem having a job. As an amateur and music lover stuck in the 70's and 80's, I miss the exeptional original sounds and style of those ages. Lorde is the only female singer I know these days who has that extra...Your band is fine, your vocal is fine, the production is fine...I make computermusic myself, cannot play very well, cannot sing, I only know what I like...It's a little middle of the road for me and that's not a bad thing ! Enjoy your music, know your limits (as I know mine) and like Janis Ian advised...do not run too fast or fly too high...

Nice
Great musicianship and song. Love the textures and blends. Solid vocal. It's clearly a genre you're comfortable with. Perhaps a little more separation in the mix on the outro as there seem to a little bit of competition going on for mainstage. Great. All the best with it.

Lauren Rathbun's "Bird With A Broken Wing"
Upon your very first listen to New York based artist Lauren Rathbun's "Bird With A Broken Wing", you cannot help but be deeply impressed by the terrific performance, exceptional production and inspired songwriting. While Lauren Rathbun's influences are obvious, Lauren's sound is quite original and unique. I am looking forward to hearing more music from Lauren very soon!

BIRD WITH A BROKEN WING
THIS SONG STARTS OUT IN A FOLKY WAY VOCALLY BUT CONTINUES TO BUILD TO AN UNEXPECTED CRESCENDO AS IT CONTINUES TO GATHER PACE TO A STRONG MESSAGE CHORUS WHICH REMINDED ME OF SOME OF THOSE ARTISTS FROM THAT GENRE PERSONALLY, I WOULD PUT THE CHORUS FIRST AS ITS THE MOST POWERFUL PART OF THE SONG AT THE INTRODUCTION PERHAPS ALSO SOME ACCOUSTIC GUITAR IN THE VERSES THEN BRING THE PIANO IN THE CHORUS FOR THE SINGALONG PIANO IS NOT DOING IT FOR ME IN THE VERSES

A bit less would have been more
A long intro is followed by a somehow overloaded second part of the song. There, the piano rhythm pattern is competing with an electric guitar riff which delivers additional and sometimes different rhythmic components, and this competition doesn't really help. I would have preferred sustained powerchords on the one, letting the piano do the rest then. The lead voice is ok but not unique, it sounds like many others before. Guitars are played with competence, but (as said) less would have been more. All the harmony vocals kicking in are ok in the specific moment, but I am missing the red thread. Guess that sort of a diet could help to reduce, to thin out the musical overload. Keep the good ideas for another song, there's still a lot of potential in here. Good production though.
