I wanted to let you know that I will no longer be updating my Number One Music profile, as it is costing me too much money.

I do not like sites that charge artists to upload their music, but do not give anything back to the artists.

If you really like my music and wish to continue listening to it, I suggest you head over to Spotify where you can listen to my music all day long and still for free! The only difference is that I will actually get paid (though minimally), when you listen. Where's the music? Where indeed?

I don't know! I've been really busy putting together a new website and haven't put much energy into my music lately. I've become "Business Barry", and I want "Music Barry" back! Unfortunately, as an Independent Musician, you have to balance the two to make things work in this industry.

Though I haven't been playing much, I am very proud of what I've achieved over the past month or so. I have started Blogging too, which I find really pleasing, as I used to love writing when I was in school. Sorry this email is a little later than usual but I recently had a wisdom tooth out and in my "recovery stage", I forgot to send it out!

The first song on the album is nearly done! I finished recording the backing vocals yesterday, and I am very excited about how this one is sounding! Very keen to get the files off to Studio Pros next week to get the song mixed. Yay!

Things have been pretty quiet as far as gigs go at the moment, but I don't really mind as it's giving me time to get some recording done and do more on the "business" side of my music.

I thought I would tell you a story.....

Recently, I was playing a gig at the Westpac Centre in Melbourne. It was a wedding, and they had booked me to play before and after the ceremony. The gig went well, I got loads of great compliments about my music and my voice, which is always nice.

After I had finished, I was loading out my gear, which was quite a lot as I'd used my bigger (expired link). system! A man who had been sitting quietly, drinking a beer at one of the outside tables, watching me going back and forth with trolleys full of stuff suddenly spoke up and said, "You need a Roadie". I naturally agreed with him, as a Roadie is something I have dreamed of for some time now!

The man went on to offer up his teenage son as my own personal Roadie, and asked me to give him a business card, so that he could get his son to contact me. I laughed and continued packing up my stuff, assuming he was joking.

As I was passing the man with my last trolley-load, he called out "Hey, what about your card?". It turns out that he was in fact very serious and went on to say that his son was a really great kid, very reliable and strong! His wife also said that she felt like she could trust me to have their son travelling around to gigs with me. Unfortunately, I had to tell them that I couldn't afford to pay him! It turns out he lived on the opposite side of the city to me anyway, and it wouldn't have been practical. A really nice gesture though, and I am always amazed at peoples kindness and helpfulness.

Happy New Year! It's 2014 and I think it's gonna be an awesome year. I plan on making it one anyway.

This year is kicking off in a big way for me with the recording of my new album, and the crowd funding campaign that will hopefully allow me to finish that album!

Crowd Funding is where I ask for financial input from you to help me pay for all the costs that are involved in the making of the album - you're just pre-purchasing the album really. There will be different "buy-in" levels where you'll receive other things for your money such as a signed poster, or I might come round and mow your lawn etc! It's gonna be fun and extremely stressful at the same time, but I look forward to the experience!

Keep a look out for the video blog I'll be posting to my website once a month, which will give you an insight into what's happening with the album. It will be posted here - (expired link)

Hi Friend,

I've been busy recording for the new album and the first song is taking shape. Studio Pros have done awesome drum and bass tracks for me, and I'm busy recording the guitars for it. I'm really excited about how it's sounding and I can't wait for it to be finished. I'll be putting some video footage of me recording the guitars up on the website soon.

I will be undertaking a Crowd Funding campaign in the New Year to help fund the album. This is a HUGE thing for me, so I'll be needing your help to make this album a reality. I hope that you will support me when the time comes and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Well, it's all happening at the moment in my musical life. I am still trying to put together a band to help me record an (expired link). next year - I just need the right drummer and I'm good-to-go. I have a handful of rock songs that will hopefully blow your socks off, so I'm keen to get them recorded and into your iPods, Cd Players, cars...whatever!! :-)

I recently played a great Songwriters In The Round gig at The Chadelier Room in Moorabin, Melbourne with 8 other singer/songwriters. There was a lot of talent there on the night and I had an awesome time sharing the stage with them. Some of the video footage will be up on my website over the next couple of weeks....

I've included a link to a demo version of the drums for But Ya Get No..., which will be going on the (expired link). next year. The track was recorded by Studio Pros recently ((expired link)) and has come up so well, I'm really pleased. I hope you enjoy it too....

Well, the band is finally put together.....fingers crossed! The bass player is coming around tonight to work on the songs with me and we'll be having our first band rehearsal before the end of the month. This means that very soon, you will get to hear my new rock songs! Woo!
