Hey everybody, this is Michael from Bat Eats Moth. I just wanted to thank all of you for your support; I'm getting lots of listens, and that means something to me. I will be moving back east soon, to Georgia. That is, unless I get a record deal, in which case it's off to Los Angeles. I sent some emails, Tweets and whatnot to Avenged Sevenfold expressing an interest in partnering with one of more of them; I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I doubt any of them will be interested in that sort of risk (or my type of darkness), but if I can score a partnership deal with any of those guys, a huge weight will be lifted and doors I've been clawing at for over two decades will open. Wish me luck! I also wanted to let all of you know that the 432 Hz thing was an experiment with low pitch tuning, since I wasn't getting the sound or effect I wanted with standard 440 Hz tuning. I don't associate with the 432 Hz movement that believes in tuning 432 Hz for numerological reasons, for healing purposes, to oppose some Nazi conspiracy pertaining to 440 Hz tuning, whatever. I believe in the supernatural, but I don't believe in any of the stuff these people are saying about tuning to 432 Hz; it's all misinformed nonsense. My only interest in low pitch tuning is for practical and aesthetic reasons, and 432 Hz was the first reference I came across aside from conventional drop tuning. Because there is so much superstitious hype surrounding 432 Hz that I don't want associated with my music or my band, I've decided to switch to tuning to 430 Hz (classical pitch), because it's an actual industry standard that's in use rather than something a bunch of foil hat wearing nutjobs are proposing. I'll leave the 432 Hz tracks up for comparison (and because I don't want to lose my listen numbers by deleting them), but anything I post from now on will be tuned to 430 Hz. It's actually more resonant than 432 Hz tuning, so if anything, it will affect people more intensely, which is what I want. I'll be re-recording my stuff, probably after I move, so I'll definitely post the new recordings sometime early next year. If I get a record deal, I won't even mention that I tune to that pitch, since it's not really meant to be a selling point; it's just another technical aspect of making music that most fans know nothing about. Pantera tuned to 430 Hz, as well as a lot of other metal bands since, but none of them said or say anything about it. There's no reason to, because there's no mystical hype surrounding 430 Hz tuning; it's just something they do to make their music different or to make it sound better, since people seem to have a more visceral reaction to it than conventional tuning. I don't have anything to sell other than the music itself, so If I ever get a record deal or independently release albums for sale, I will gladly fade into the background of tuning club anonymity with them.
