New Music from BIG ROYAL is now on N1M

I put a studio band together awhile back to record some music I wrote for some other projects I was working on. During the session, as usual, we fell into a groove that wouldn’t quit. So, I had to share this track with you guys with more to come. I like playing jam music because of the freedom it gives me to express myself and purge the music that’s in my head. So check out the 1st official release of “FITT DA DESCRIPTION......Nuthin' Butta Groove”. Available April 22nd 2021 on all digital platforms.

A few months ago I got to record with an R&B Legend, Mr. Hermon Hitson. Now I’ve been playing live with Hermon for years. This was the 1st time we were in there studio together. i love hearing about his life on the road with people like Jimi Hendrix, James Brown, Joe Tex, Wilson Pickett and more. The history he shares can’t be found in many of the biographies written about these artist (and Hermon is mentioned in a couple of them.) Hermon is featured in the documentary "Lee Moses: Life and Times" (Bad Girl featured in The High Note). There’s concert footage at the end features Hermon (guitar), John Khaleefa (drums), Leslie Parks (Bass), and yours truly (keys).

We recorded one of his compositions, You Can’t Keep A Good Man Down” and a Joe Tex track “Woman Stealers”. Be sure to check them out available now on all digital platforms.

Thank you all for your support and for turning on your friends to my music. I’ve been on the road and/or recorded with many Blues Musicians and have had the pleasure of opening for legends like B. B. King, Bobby ‘Blue” Bland, Clarence Carter, and many others in my music career. Sunday, July 14, 2019 in Birmingham, Alabama at Carmichael’s Club (1157 Bankhead Hwy) I will be Inducted in the Blues Hall Of Fame along with Lenny Williams (Tower Of Power), Beverly “Guitar” Watson (Mama Watson - I like to call her), Eddie Sawyer, Thunderfoot Smiley. and others. If you’re there please come out and show your love and support to all the Inductees. Doors open at Noon Tickets at Door $10 VIP $15.

I am so heartbroken this morning. My friend and mentor, Harvey Scales died late last night. He was a great songwriting partner and a wealth of information. Harvey received national recognition for co-writing Billboard Hot 100 chart-topping single for Johnnie Taylor, "Disco Lady". "Disco Lady" was the very first platinum single in the history of the Recording Industry Association of America, selling over two million copies. It was certified platinum on April 22, 1976. As a result, he was the first songwriter of a platinum single in America. I’m gonna really miss our conversations.

Big things are on the horizon and pretty soon I'll be putting together a showcase to take on the road so I can meet all you. However, I need a favor from you. Please provide me the names of the venues in your town that do live music and also provide the name of the radio stations you listen to so I can get BIG ROYAL on their playlist and in rotation.

This is gonna be a fun project because I have enlisted some friends of mine to help put it together. These guys have backed up Legends in R&B and Soul like James Brown, Joe Tex, Irma Thomas, Bobby Womack, TLC, The SOS Band, Cameo, Jimi Hendrix, and others you all probably know.

Thank you all for listening to my music. I'm just learning how all this works and I'm brand new to Number One Music. Recently, I upgraded my subscription because you all asked for more music from me. This is truly a humbling experience for me because the guys that recorded some of these tracks have gone on to other things and some of my guys are no longer with us except in spirit.

i promise you guys that I will get better at this and would really appreciate it if you would stay in touch with me. Without you there would be no Big Royal. Currently, I'm on the road and recording with other people in Atlanta. Some of these guys you probably know because they played with some very big names from James Brown to Joe Tex and others in the Blues / Southern Soul realm.
