Fabrizio Brua
While growing up in northern Italy in the town of Biella, Fabrizio Brua studied
piano at the Lorenzo Perosi Conservatory of Music. Never completely convinced
by traditional western methods for studying and performing music, Brua began
to follow his own musical path.
Under the guidance of a Jesuit priest, Frate Cappelletto, Brua began a spiritual
journey that lead him to India. There he discovered classical Indian music and
the sitar. Since 1991 he has studied classical
Indian music under the tutelage of the Italian sitar master, Gianni Ricchizzi, in
Assisi Italy; and with Pandit Amarnath Mishra in Varanasi, India. Now, Brua lives
in Brooklyn and studies with Pakistani sitar virtuoso Ikhlaq Hussain Khan.
