Hi everyone,
It's been a while since I have been on here and a while since i was inspired to write anything new. Things are maintaining for me at the moment. Been on lock down now since March and probably will be for a few more weeks. After moving North, I had to focus on getting settled down and got a little uprooted from doing music not being in the scene as I was down in Long Beach.
I released a new album in 2018 called "From A Hill", which is actually an old album, or rather has lots of my first songs I ever wrote and recorded on it, many of them solo acoustic and is my favorite album to date. It's up on Spotify and iTunes now if anyone wanted to check it out. I'm learning over time that while I enjoy performing with others, when it comes to recording, I really like keeping my songs simple and not over produced. I feel like you get the real me, unfancified (my new word of the day).
Recently, I was messing on my guitar and came up with a tune pretty quickly, which I call "Doin' Fine". Lots of people are writing motivational and upbeat songs about whats currently going on, trying to help people feel better. I'm of a little different mindset when it comes to my songwriting... I don't think too much about what message I want to send, but rather document whats going on in my life and hopefully you can connect. I recently asked a friend how they were doing through all this now and they said they were "doin' fine" when clearly they weren't. It's ok to not have the best days and you don't always have to show a strong face, trust me, in that you aren't alone.
Anyway, without further ado, after a long time, please enjoy my latest song called "Doin' Fine". The guitar and vocals went through my amp and was recorded using my cell phone. We are high tech over here. Still though, don't sound too shabby. Hope you all enjoy and thank you all so much for coming on my little journey with me. Sending you all much love and best wishes during these uncertain times.
Big hugs,
Jess
