Our crowdfunding is started, are you with us?
Hi everyone, I'm Capone, the founder of Capone & BungtBangt, the band playing instruments made from recycled materials. Our project started in 1999, we are among the pioneers of ecological music, we call it Junk Music. I use to call myself “sound designer” because I build with my hands the sound I need using urban solid waste or everyday objects. I write and sing songs, and this allowed us to be heard by many people also different from each other because our music is undoubtedly a melting pot of different sounds and music culture.
Often we take part in initiatives of solidarity with associations as Legambiente, Greenpeace, Libera contro le mafie and to my great pride I was given the honorary title of social worker for my workshops in areas at risk and for my willingness to support activities in those areas for legality and of course for the environment.
Our philosophy starts from the bottom, we play instruments made by what everyone thinks to be junk, we sing songs whose lyrics have strong themes, related to nature, love for the people we talk about the contradictions of our society to show that what appears a rejection, if looked at from another point of view, can still have great value. We go around gigs, we go in schools, universities, neighborhoods at risk and conservatives in Italy and abroad to share this idea to light a spark of creativity at no cost. This is what we have always done and what has allowed us to get here. Thanks to your support and your affection that has always strengthened our choice, not easy, to create from what others often reject.
Now after eight years we are back with an album of unreleased with the desire to have our say about the state of things, the contradictions that we can see and stimulate listeners and musicians to rethink an original way of making music.
This album dig into the origins to shake the future. In the title "Mozzarella Nigga" is the story of a people, the Italian, that when he was an emigrant was called "white nigger" and I from Naples, I always felt a "white nigger" for stylistic choice as my music has always been so much black music merged with the Neapolitan culture and Italian.
"Mozzarella Nigga" is one of the many nicknames that we are saddled by the Americans in the '50s, and today we retrieve it because it is more timely than ever: mozzarella dioxin as a metaphor of pollution of the Earth, migrants, the southern hemisphere, and the north-south conflict that also touches Italy with the loss of historical memory of their origins. All elements that trouble because narrate different realities, imbalances asking deafeningly our attention and our contribution.
In the album you will find a track on the water common good, one on the Land of Fires as a symbol of ecological struggles of the people too often beaten to defend their territories, one on feelings as those living in an urban ghetto whether Scampia, or Quarto Oggiaro Tor Bella Monaca. And many other songs with their catchy rhythms will make you move your legs but also the brain in an attempt not easy to unite mind and body.
We are joining many friends as guests, because Mozzarella Nigga is a collective word that defines a nation with all its nuances. There are the Solis String Quartet, Shaone, all Neapolitan scene of this magical moment that you breathe in the city: Dario Sansone (Foja), Daniele Sepe, Claudio Gnut, Nelson, Elio 100g, Matiotto Mc. But also two great mozzarella nigga, more nigga than mozzarella as Famoudou Don Moye of the Art Ensemble of Chicago, James Senese, Nigga Thieuf and the young African Neapolitan rapper second generation Mc Matto.
And along with all this it is you who are part of what we do, you are not spectators and you do not have to be! The world has changed, it is now clear that each of us can do his part and crowdfunding is one of the tools we have. Give support, be part of a project to help in the realization of the goal is the way to participate in the changes and the music has always been the soundtrack of the changes.
Well, if you have read this far you will realize that Mozzarella Nigga is more than an album, it's a philosophy that to blossom needs to be shared. So if you feel it is a good project, join this magnificent journey and you will be added in the CD booklet to enter the great family of Mozzarella Niggas!
Oh one last thing, many of you are fascinated by my instruments, well this is your chance to get one!
