The lyrics paint the picture of the desolate and unforgiving life that is the destiny of the Kentucky coal miner. This piece really fits together: the music sets the mood for the sad tale. I'm SUCH a fan of this song! Such a beautiful piece of work! These powerful lyrics are delivered exquisitely...and so convincingly by near-perfect vocals, upheld by understated instrumentation that still carries the day and drives the powerful lyrics home till you just know you are hearing what I would consider to be "an instant classic"! For me, it's a sure hit and one I would listen to over and over and likely would never have too much of! Sweeeet!

Coal Miners Hands starts out with a simple guitar riff which becomes a hook as the song continues. A solo male voice tells a story of the Kentucky coal mines. A soft female vocal enhances a line here and there. I would have liked to hear another instrument or two introduced as the record progresses. I think this would help to swell the emotion of the song. Overall I like the song and with a little work, who knows......Best of luck!

A plaintive ballad with a sparsely scored accompaniment, a droning strum on a lone guitar. The melody is haunting and complements the lyric about the dreary life of an entire class of working men whose struggles go largely unnoticed in today's society. This song sounds as though it was written by an actual coal miner; or, at the very least, by someone whose family worked the mines. The rhythm of the guitar is repeated throughout, emphasizing the inevitable and inescapable tedium of the miner's workaday life, one with few rewards and great sacrifice for family's sake.

I found this tune to be well worth listening to. Its well written, smooth vocals and I loved the tempo. I would consider speeding it up a few BPM's , but not much else would be needed to market this as is. Nice work Chaser. I look forward to hearing more soon! Ronnie Bar.

This is a tune that for me was very easy to listen to. No need for more instrumentation, just a simple acoustic guitar line and strong soulful vocal. Good dynamics. Is this ready to market? Yes, I believe it is but not in a traditional sense. When listening I got images of a soundtrack for a movie. Maybe that is the direction to take with this one. I rarely give a 5 star rating but this is a strong 3 stars!

A good solid song here. I didn't see the whole question because it got cut off. My opinion though, is that this is good soundtrack material for a movie. With proper production and the song worked up a bit instrumentally I can see that happening. The vocal is well done and you've got a good voice. The background vocal bits were a nice touch and could be thickened up with another layer or two to make them give you shivers. It's well structured, melodic, it tells a story, and you can hum along. A nice piece of work! All the best to you.

I liked the song and the lyrics. The vocal was very well done with a good delivery for the mood of the song. I think the question was is the current cut enough to release it as is or does it need something else. I am inclined to the latter. If I were producing this track I would keep it fairly clean like it already is but I think I would bring in some other sounds to enhance the production. Example: At the beginning of the second verse in would introduce a high hat rhythm. then a little further along I would bring in a bass drum. Toward the end of the chorus a soft Lowery sound will be nice in the background. At the point of the music break I think I would add a snare to the percussion. Then I would back off everything at the finish and let the guitar and vocal close the song. That's my take on the question. It's a great track as is but my preference would be to try to make it greater. None of the guitar or vocal track would have to be disturbed or over dubbed.

The simple acoustic guitar, nylon string I think, is a perfect accompaniment to your haunting emotional vocals. The understated female backing vocals balances out the song nicely. This is the right way to deliver this powerful story in a song. You deliver it as if you were there. you bring us to the cold dirty and dangerous coal mines of the Appalatian spine. It is a sad desolate and dangerous place. You captured that in your lyrics. Your vocals fit the mood of the song very well. Just enough character in your voice to give it the feel but still understand the words. Great country/folk ballad. Well produced and well performed. Great job

I just listened to your song in full and it is definitely an interesting song. I'm not sure exactly what genre this song fits into recorded as is. Out of the genres you have listed, I'm assuming it would be more for Country, unless you're leaning in a folk rock direction. I know it's not cheap to do, but I definitely recommend doing a full production of this song to best represent it. More than likely, if I as a fellow musician am unsure of the direction of this song as is, a publisher would feel the same way. If you want the song to be successful and have a better chance of someone in the business taking notice of it, it will definitely need the full production. I don't know if you have a studio you go to, but if not, I recommend Dark Horse Studio. They are good about giving you deals, and they produce top quality recordings. Some of the best artists in the business have recorded albums there. They have a website, so if you google it, I'm sure you can find it easy enough. Pat Crow is definitely the contact person to talk to there, as he is the one my friend has dealt with. I believe he is the owner of the studio. So anyway, if you need a studio to record a full production of your song in, I highly recommend that studio. And he can line up the musicians for you if you talk to him and let him know what you're wanting. So anyway, it sounds like a good song, but I could definitely give you a more accurate review of the song if it was fully produced. And definitely keep writing and keep up the good work!

First let me say the content of this song is emotionally as real as it gets, and it conjours up imagery of a suffering group in Anerica... One that's been ignored. Miners suffer, and that's what the Blues is all about. Is it commercially viable? Maybe regionally in the Southeast, not sure about the entire world. But there's an audience for all music somewhere... When it's real..good luck with it !

As a a 40 plus year veteran of the Nashville Music Industry,"Coal Miner's Hands", seemed like an aged and overused subject for one to write about today. However, even as an experienced listener, I still found this song somewhat captivating for me. Perhaps it's the solo guitar that helps make it so, almost like a lonely old miner playing his guitar while telling his own story and moaning the blues of his difficult day down deep in the mine. Or maybe it's the sad, melancholy background vocal? I'm not sure what it is exactly, but it "works" and it did keep my ears fixed on it for 3 and one half minutes. Billy Arr

This song is very deep and moving! From a production viewpoint it is very, very minimal. I don't mind this, but I sure can envision a bit more of a build up, and perhaps a rhythm section as the song moves along. Thanks very much for your wonderful writing!

This is a cool song. The lead vocals are really good. I would suggest stronger and more dramatic harmonies in the chorus. And because the of the undulating rhythm in this song, it would benefit from some steady bass throughout. This is a song with a heartfelt story. The dynamics of the music are what will bring the listener to that place and see what you are seeing.
