Originally trained in his middle school’s marching band on the cornet, Chris then attended the Ann Arbor School of Performing Arts in the Jazz performance group. He fell in love with guitar and began playing daily. Chris writes, arranges and performs all of his music. He wants to take the blues to the younger generation and keep it alive for veteran fans. His dream is for everyone to love the blues as much as he does.

Angie started as the video tech of the band and filled in on keys. She added background vocals but was prodded by Chris to share with lead vocals. Angie credits Chris with helping her find her voice. She shares with the booking and management duties and does the band promotion. Music is a life saver to her and she always has a party on the stage.

Hello Blues Lovers,
It's been a while since our last news letter. The Chris Canas Band has been busy writing and playing. Look for new music on our site soon. A video will be posted tonight with new music as well. The CCB won the regional Blues competition in Michigan and will be heading to Memphis, TN in January 2015 for the International Blues Challenge. This will be our fourth opportunity and we're hoping to go all the way. Previously we have always been in the semi-finals. We have some new additions to the band this year. Greg Sauceda went on tour with Harper & The Midwest Kind and Michael Scott stepped up to the drummer position. Greg opted out of the 2 year tour and is returning to The CCB. Soooooo, We now have 2 drummers. Cool, eh? Shane Rasmussen, who has played the keys for a few years, went on hiatus for family obligations. We were without the keys for a while and then Chris Nordman stepped in on the keys and piano. We have played some nice venues and festivals and hope to cross paths with you soon. Blues artist Chris Canas is a Soldier for the Blues. Keeping the Blues alive for new and seasoned blues lovers. Singer, Songwriter, Lead Guitar and Cornet player Chris Canas has a major Musical background. It began as a toddler when his mother took him to his first Jazz and Blues Festival at Hart Plaza in Detroit. Chris wants to help keep the "Blues" alive and kicking in the hearts of music lovers by adding a little new with the old. He crosses genres' with ease and embraces diversity in music. While mastering the cornet in the Farmington music program, he joined the jazz Band led by David Drake. He quickly fell in love with the guitar and the blues sounds it could make. Chris enrolled in the Ann Arbor School of Performing Arts. Not needing a guitar player, he was enrolled as a cornet player and refined his performance and improvisation skills. Being that his first love was blues guitar, he practiced almost night and day. Chris has played with the Ann Arbor School of The Performing Arts, and numerous venues in and around the Detroit - Ann Arbor area with various artists.
