When asking for a review, we need to keep in mind that we're going to comments based on the perspective of the listener which may or may not be helpful since we usually have an aspect we're looking to hear the comments about. So I am going to break this out into several sections. 1. Production. - The song is not radio or sales ready. You may already know that but everyone on here that has actually produced a record would hear this as a demo with potential. It's not a throwaway track. There is a natural tendency for humans to be negative and the comments you have thus far contain a lot of what the reviewers would do to fix the track. Start again with a producer that has your vision of what the song should be. 2. Performance. - If your goal is to keep the performers on the track that are doing the demo, then you can. There are moments that show the potential of the performers. Again I think a good producer would bring out the best in the performers. If you want others to pick the track up for their own recordings, it's a reasonable demo. Nothing needs to be done. 3. Writing the melody. - I think you have a good understanding of the genre you are working with and this does not need to be improved on. Best marks for this. 4. Writing the lyric. - At times this almost seems more fitting to a freestyle competition than a song with structure. The storytelling aspect of the verses fits into the exhortation well in the beginning but as the rap progresses it stops going somewhere and gets wordy trying to maintain itself. It works ok as a rap song but my opinion is that especially by the last verse it's letting the song's true potential down. It doesn't need to grow the point made but should move away from instruction to actually finding things to praise God for and doing it by example. 5. Promotion - Sometimes we ask for reviews because we need the words of others for promotional purposes. Pick a strong review based on the ministry people get from listening to you, not based on musical or production excellence. Mark it as a signature review. It will help most and keep your reviewer credible. 6. So I want to be encouraging because I love the out of the box thinking you guys are obviously doing. I see this as a work in progress and want to show you that you should believe more in what you are doing not less because a comment may or may not be what you're looking for. We all have strengths and weaknesses and the best stuff lets us do what we are best at and work with others where we are weak. PS. I only review things where I see potential and I believe in. I would not have spent this much time if I didn't think it was worth it. God bless. Keep going.

Sing to the Lord by Christa Cossey & Dodging Where it is a very simple piece and perhaps not well assembled because you immediately notice a huge volume difference between base and voice. certainly it is appreciable to sing for the Lord, I also dedicated a piece to God (I invite you to listen) but my music review can not be positive because in the end there are many things that do not go (from the point of view music). we all need to perfect ourselves and you are on the right track.

Great message

The track starts off great. The instrumental sounds amazing and really flows well with the song. Now the message in this song is amazing. This is definitely something that needs to be heard to the masses. The passion that the singers sing with is amazing. Everyone is on beat and i love the song is catchy. I pray this song can touch the saved and unsaved. Continue to let the Lord use you.

To start, your hard work paid off in regard to the melody. Both the music composition and the tempo of the lyrics compliment each other. The only thing I would work on is the leveling (volume) of the verse. I would lower it just a little bit so that it blends with the music. Other than that, it sounds good. Keep it up!!!

A Really Good Start

I really like the melody that you struggled so hard with. You got it right. My only suggestion is you need another instrument along with the ones you have now. Not sure which one it should but it needs to adds little substance to your beautiful melody. Next the rapper, I really like. Love his voice and the passion in his words. When someone has that passion I usually think they have either lived through something that relates to the words they are rapping or singing about. But then the spoiler! The singer is terrible. Not only does he not have a voice but he is flat and sounds like he is off key. Please he must go and replaced with someone who can sing and be an asset to your lovely song. A voice that is strong but yet has that gentle sound that flows easily as it enters and exits. That kind of voice that people look forward to hearing them sing their part. Please take these as constructive suggestions. Thank you

Surprising

Based on the electronic synth and bell sound intro, I was surprised when the lead vocal came in, doing rap in a deep booming country twang. I have definitely heard worse rap, but I have heard better too. Then another voice comes in singing the chorus, "Sing to the Lord," and it's just not very good, I'm sorry to say. The two-part harmony is not bad, but ultimately, this production doesn't make me want to join in, and that seems to be the goal of this tune. The background is all synthetic. The drums are not live, and there is no bass at all, which further hinders the song from reaching its goal.

My brother, I really do love the loop and beats you put together on this one. I have never been a fan of rap or talk music. I never liked that genre. But the words made sense so am wondering how it would sound if the whole song was sung.

This is an awesome song you have a very very wonderful MC voice. The only thing i may recommend is going to a more proffessional studio where the producers can give it the sound it needs. I only say that because it sounds like a kareoke. This is so creative also lol keep enjoying singing about the LORD. He is an awesome GOD! Please keep me updated on your music. Stay blessed and dont stop and remember better studio!

Unique for sure

Rap is definitely not my thing but this song dies have some good lyrics. I think the musical composition was good but I feel that the lead singer needs to sing with more devotion to the Lord and not try to sound like the world to reach the world. Keeping your focus on Jesus and worshiping Him with all if your heart, soul, and mind, should bring out a greater passion in your voice and in your music. It is all about Him. Not about you or me.

My thoughts

Helpful

Hey Christa, I like the lyrics, the music needs to be a little more edgy. Personally, just me, I would find another vocalist to rap. One with more feel and more flow. With a rap, definitely have to flow and under enunciate, just to get the flow. The music is tight, just not right with the feel of what your trying to achieve with the song/ lyric. Just my thoughts, we all keep working hard. It pays off sooner than later.

Hip Hop

Helpful

Hi Christa, Has great potential, I've thinking about doing a hip hop myself. Would love to hear this one sung by a younger experienced hip hopper even if you have to bring in a session singer. You write great lyrics, the vocalist is your salesman, he is the one who will grab the attention of your listeners. Just my thoughts, hope they are beneficial to you. Sincerely Lola

GOOD FEEL

I like the easy going feel to this song. The style is more like Philly style R and B, like the stuff that I grew up with. The beat is consistent through out which is a good thing, as it keep the piece together. Lyrically the words are inspiring.
