NEW SONG BEG AONACH AMARACH
Hi i hope i find you well. When i began working as an english teacher in prague in 03 often the first question i was asked was why i didn't speak Irish. The ten year period i performed and recorded in Czech i suppose for many people in the city i was the Irishman.Over the years i played all across the city often in pretty rough places and often i would play a few songs for students during lessons. The Irish treated me quite badly so in the end i did little music in Ireland. When i started my masters in 2016 i choose the acapella singing style sean nos[old style] as a topic of research. The origins of this singing style is the guy who was meant to entertain the Gaelic king used to tell stories and then it became a form of singing with a lot of note changes i suppose to increase the drama of the story the song is telling. As a child i heard relatives sing songs in this tradition and i was always fascinated by the blues i heard in the music. This is a song a few hundred years old which goes beg ain uck amauruck i guntay un clawruck there is a fair tomorrow in the county of clare and talks about a girl he has his eye on who is underage,he would probably go straight to jail these days but a few hundred years ago these songs were often passed from person to person and it was like american blues that you had a few different styles of singing the way they sang in Ulster was different to Munster the same way you had Chicago blues and Missisipi blues. There is no copyright on it so i suppose its part of Gaelic heritage so i will leave the download button on if you want to listen in your phone or whatever, its not an easy thing to sing acapella and i don't use autotune but it's okay,i could spend another ten hours taking breaths out and taking bad notes but i suppose when something is live it is live.I hope you enjoy it as always feel free to drop me a line and i wish you and your family all the best
