Cryptic Oath

Cryptic Oath is currently finishing up with rehearsing and writing to what will become our newest release. We have some pretty killer material written so far, and plan to go old school and release our album on vinyl (which will also include a digital download card). Recording is hopeful to begin in June with drums. Guitar scratch tracks are finished for 6 songs currently. We will update as much as we are able.

Unfortunately, we are located in Chicago, and do not currently tour. We are currently recording an EP, which is almost finished. It should hopefully become available by this July. We are producing it ourselves, but plan on sending it to Mana Studios in Florida for mixing and mastering. This is also where Distortion Theory was mixed and mastered. Cryptic Oath is a 4-piece metal band from Chicago. Members consist of Steve (vocals/guitar), Ryan (guitar/vocals), Jay (bass/vocals), and Phil (drums). They have been compared to bands such as Megadeth, Pantera, Carcass, and Slayer. There is a dueling guitar force that has intricate as well as melodic passages to create something for the hardcore and melodic fan alike.
Some of the major influences from different people in the band are various and similar. Influences range from Death to Soilwork, from Megadeth to In Flames, from Jason Becker to Richard Christy, and from Van Halen to Ron Jarzombek. You won’t find a Brittany Spears influence in the music by Cryptic Oath.
Cryptic Oath is unique in many ways. First off, there are guitar solos in many songs. Second of all, the drums are very diverse. Many of the beats and tempos change from song to song. Third, there are a variety of vocal styles used to create different effects with the music. There are clean, dirty, and growl-like vocals placed at certain points.
Overall, Cryptic Oath is a force with which to be reckoned. Four people have the desire to create music under a name that expresses how they wish to proceed: with a desire to unleash technical, yet melodic music onto the world!!
