This is what I consider to be the first real song I ever wrote. I wrote it immediately after watching the film Donnie Darko, and many of the themes in the song are pulled almost directly from it. Even the title, Cellar Door, is what Donnie's teacher presents to him as the most beautiful phrase in the English language according to a famous linguist. I was so inspired by the film that I immediately went to the piano, and this is the result. It was one of those few, rare songs every songwriter has that almost seems to come through you, not from you, and comes out pretty much completely finished. To this day, I still think it's the best song I've written. I hope you'll agree!
