The song Weak Threads by Darker Still grabs the listener from the start with a strong excellent vocal, musicianship, and production. There is nothing weak about this song! This rock song is fun to jam loud and on repeat! Great guitar solo work which adds a lot of flavor The song is categorized as rock, but it also has country crossover potential opening it up to an even bigger audience. Definitely give Weak Threads a listen to hear what a great indie produced song sounds like with full bodied production. Scott...WFJS

Professionally done and chart ready
So it gets a bit difficult to find these needles in a haystack on N1M but if I have time to look through the offerings long enough, I sometimes find a gem like Weak Threads by Darker Still ... by the way, while in the Rock category, this could be big on the Country charts too, so don't ignore that route. This is clearly America Roots material if you combine the two .... so there's a Grammy submission right there in a growing category. You see guys, your music has morphed into a hybrid.. is it Country, Rock or the combo now known as Roots music ... all three actually. Superior vocals, quality rhythm section and a story to boot. Well done guys
Awesome Still
Darker Still write great songs period. The singer is probably the best I have heard here on numberonemusic and the sound they create is A+++ !!!! Probably the highest quality recordings too. Weak Threads should be on the radio here in the states, maybe it is. This song is for sure a vibe, chill song with great emotion behind it. Passion and performance balanced with high quality pro musicians and you get the band Darker Still !!!

Timeless and beautiful
Once in a while, you find one of these songs where everything's just as it should be. An acoustic guitar fundament, a good flow, not too fast but groovy. A voice that seems to touch your soul, catchy harmony vocals, and on top a proper recording with a good and full drum sound. The song starts directly without any intro gimmicks, and that's how it ends as well. The lead guitar sound is quite compressed, and there's one or two "blue notes" in the solo where I'm not that sure that they were intended. But being a guitar player by myself I know how difficult that is...a beautiful and timeless piece of music!

Steady Rock.
this song has a great vibe going on. Very well mixed, sounds like classic rock meets the 21st century. Vocals are put together nicely, Not sure what the song is about but i'm enjoying this melody. . Keep it up.

Great American Rock song
Great American Rock song. Energy drums, powerful guitars and great voice. The chorus remains etched in your mind. The sound mixing and productión are excellent. If do you like the good rock this song is for you.

Strong Song
It took a little bit to get use to the intro of it, but it got real interesting at the 1:05 mark with that high note on the guitar. That's where I found the 'hook' in this song. From there on, it was smooth sailing. This is a strong song played with big emotion and with those guitar lead licks, just makes it even 'better'. The older I get, the more I'm starting to like 'progressive' Country music. a bit of modern country
Weak Threads by Darker Still is a bit of modern country rock. The song is fine and unpretentious. It doesn't push any boundaries or brake any rules. It sounds like almost all the other modern country songs on the airwaves today. If that was the goal then congrats, Darker Still achieves it. The recording is fine. The production is fine. Fans of modern country would probably digest it as well as anything else playing on country radio today. It is not personally my cup of tea as far as music but that is my own personal take, not a reflection on the music, talent, or production. All in my opinion, are fine within their vein. I have nothing negative to say except that I don't find anything original in the sound. Nothing that stands out to tell me, this is different and this is good. I feel that this band is a fan of modern country and they went with a safe formula for their own recording. If it pays and your happy guys, then keep on living the dream. I'm always looking for a conversion though. Best of luck to you!

Weak Threads - Strong Song
This sounds more country than rock, but I'll give it to you. I like the vocals - finally a song to review that has good vocal production! Thank you for putting in the time on this. I like the guitar and melody. The harmonies are bright and give this song an added umph that is pleasant to hear. I will look forward to hearing more of your music and stories that you're telling to the world.

Country rock
great start , straight into it, really clear voice and cool background guitar, nice vocal harmonies, country rock feel really well produced and arranged, these guys are very professional, I'm not sure if the song is my kind of cup of tea, but it will appeal to many other country rock lovers, its well put together, i feel it needs a stronger hook somewhere, everything tells well guitar drums vocals, reminds me a bit of a scottish country rock band called Del Amitri , i wish you all the very best with this , keep on rocking and good luck with everything you do and keep up the good work

Darker Still brings us Weak Threads, a classic southern rock kind of power rock ballad reminiscing over choices of the past and how to move on. From a listener's perspective, there is plenty to appreciate in this tune with the power chords and harmony vocals. From a producer's standpoint I would have tried to make the piano and the bass guitar stand out a little more to maintain a clear stereo field. The song is also highly compressed and the dynamic range is crushed almost out of existence. That takes a great deal of the songs breadth and depth away from the listener. Its a good song that was better before the mastering than after I can imagine.
