While I am not in agreement with the sentiments of his lyrics, I do believe Cash has written a very good song. It is a good example of the conservative viewpoint. There have been many songs espousing the liberal viewpoint and this is a fitting counterpoint to that. I hope the song is successful.

Drums are good. Instruments are simple and together. Recording is clean. Vocal is ok. Lyrics are for the most part insipid and the message falls flat. It is not easy to put out a political song without sounding a bit pseudo-patriotic. I wish I could say more positive things about the song but I can't. The appeal for this song will be to a small audience even amongst Trump supporters.

We need this song. The message is important and applies to current times. I want this song to succeed. I rarely do a critical review, but this is an important song, so for you, here is my humble offering. It is the Singer who tells the story. Every other part of the production must support the telling of the story in order for the song and performance to succeed. The beginning finger-picking on guitar and sweet strings/keyboard set an expectation of a ballad. This expectation would suggest a love song. This song is not a love ballad it is about patriotism. Patriotism: a snare drum brought in as if from the distance backing the strings, then the Singer begins the story, enter guitar-strumming and the drum can build. The hard drumming would be added later providing power, but must never detract from the story. Strings/keyboards are nice. They add sympathy. This combined with snare drums would be very effective. An opening like this gives room to build. As the band sets-up the mood, it introduces the theme and the Singer begins. Beginning with the strings/keyboard and snare keeps it restrained - hold back on the drums and bring them up adding a powerful build just as you sing “Puts trust in God’s word” and continue through the song building, but keep the drum to the back. Go back to the snare toward the end to conclude. This would provide an imaginary visual of people uniting and marching for the cause of patriotism and would be created as the drum fades as if the March continues on. I like the vocals and they must be way up front. The harmonies must back and support the lead. You may try adding counter-harmony-fills to vary the theme. This would help build power and drive the message. As you add harmonies in the studio, you can create the feeling of a growing movement as if people are joining and the number of Patriots is growing. And build the drum. It adds power. Build the harmonies and more power. This theme is one close to many hearts. You, as performer can bring people to tears with this song if you can rein in your drummer and revise the arrangement. Every successful song has a beginning that introduces the theme then the song builds always expressing an awareness of the story. Sometimes the song builds to a point where it cannot build anymore and it contracts so that it can build again until it resolves in a way that leaves the listener satisfied. Also: musical and rhythmic themes are as important as vocal themes. The drummer can create a theme that can be repeated just after ever chorus that will create an expectation in the listener. This can also be accomplished by your keyboard or guitar. As the Singer gets to the second or third repetition of the chorus at the conclusion, it is powerful to take it to an upper counter-melody that is often in harmony with the existing melody, but out front. I want and would like to write songs with this theme, but I find it VERY difficult. The last thing I want to do is slip into cliches or sappy sentimentalism. Your song sounds like a great rally cry that many people will love. And, make no mistake, I LOVE the idea and am a Trump supporter, but the delivery, to me, is a bit trite. I would rather evoke the same idea, but without the direct mentioning of a wall, etc. Have you sent the president a copy? He'd probably love it. The musicality seems fine; it's the lyrics I would work on. Try more metaphor/poetry. Good luck!

Dave, right from the start from the guitar, snare drum, I like simple words from a honest vocal heart. This song grows on a person and I'm listening again to it. This is a political statement. It is not any great revelation, but rather a dreamy proposition of propaganda done in, what I'm sure the artist thinks, is truthful and hopeful. The concept is very Trump-ian at it's best. I'm addressing that as not just a fantasy, not because I the concept of this statement is actually a load of crap put forth by a phony patriotic stance that has NOTHING TO DO WITH REALITY! Now, getting past the lyrics, the music is cleanly produced but, to me, simply middle-of-the-road and unimaginative. Your music is great and is deep keep it up and you'll be going places you never really thought you would be going and i dont think it will take you anytime at all because the music/product speaks for itself so all you really need to do is stay focused and consistent and all that you strive for will come ten fold in no time but i really dig the tracks so ill appreciate it if you keep me posted for any future songs/videos you put out but all in all keep it up and im liking what im hearing
