Black Sandy Bay
Song Reviews
Very good
The vibe that you give is so real it reminds me of James Taylor. Good vocal and words fit the song. Very good guitar sounds. The chord progression is well maintained throughout the song. I could sit back with a drink and a recliner chair on the beach and listen to this sound anytime. Very god vibe. Thank you, Musically Yours, Mike

I like the feel and emotion of this track. Nice warm emotive vocal. Dreamy like instrumental, nicely performed. Good lyrical content, and the addition of violin adds to the mood perfectly. All in all, a very good track. Full of sincere reflection, and well produced sounds, would love to hear more from this artist. Thank you for the music, Dave Harris.

Wow! Just wow. Didn't expect that good sound here on N1M. Excellent work, awesome quality and a dream of a song. If you haven't yet you will definitely make your way as a musician. Great instrumental play, mixed with great sounding vocals. It's a pleasure to listen to your song. You're the 5th person, who gets a 5/5 rating out of over hundreds of reviews, but you deserve it the most. Thx for the music, best regards from Austria, Christoph!

The sound of poetry
Straight from the off this song takes you on a journey with its story driven lyrics that help paint a picture of a place visited years before. The soft gently music accompanies the lyrics that fall like poetry from the great vocal on the track. It blends perfectly offering something that both pleases the ears and touches the soul. With some songs less is more, this is a great example of that. I read that this song is a collaboration, in this case it have definitely worked. I love the violin towards the end of the song and I could imagine this coming in a little earlier on. This song would be improved no end with a good producer at the helm. Love the track keep the good music coming my friend and I look forward to hearing more ;)

every song is a visualization...
Dave Harris brings us Black Sandy Bay, a textural ballad of better times gone by. This song has a rather impressive selection of chordal voicings and progressions. From a producers standpoint the only real issues are the attempts at counterpoint timing that didn't quite match up in the rubato section at the beginning of the song. There were also a couple of major finger squeaks during the first full verse and bridge to the second. Also some automation on some tracks so that when the song is in full swing the instrumentation on the last stanza it doesn't overpower the vocals. I noticed this more when I moved out of the center of the stereo image. Its a quality effort that could use just a touch more focus to bring the whole vision into full view.

strong and simple
Talented musicianship and song writing. I like all music and give it all a chance, same way you should with people. Art is open expression and creation of a million different minds. Just like you wouldn't and shouldn't say I only like paintings of rolling hill's and lakes. Same applys to music. That said. This is not my style per say, I grew up listening to hardcore and metal. Soon after punkrock and indie rock, many band's that are never played on mainstream radio and media. I am still that guy , just older. This song posses a ton of sincerity and. Simplicity lost on a generations ears today. It would be hard to ignore and not recognize the soulful, honest muscianship going on here. A painting of serene Sandy bay overlook is created with sound and I can see it, hope you can too.

Love Story ~ Black Sandy Bay
Your song calls to mind "Dancing In The Moonlight" by Thin Lizzy. The instrumental is tight and spot on, very gentle with added strings (violin?) guitar & bass? Also, enjoyed the background notes the keyboard. The percussion is idyllic. Your story telling is epic in the song lyric captivating and compelling. A song to sing while walking along, like so many other great songs it captures the imagination and empathy of the listener. We need more love songs like yours, sadly few are still going forth. Keep bringing the magic.
