Something to be thankful for.

Hello to all my friends and fans of my music. I know not all of you around the world celebrate the American holiday of Thanksgiving, but today I do, indeed, have reason to be thankful. At this time last year I had barely begun to record songs that I hoped would be released on my debut CD. I really had no expectation of these songs receiving airplay or acclaim from anyone but local radio or my friends. I viewed the project rather as something to prove that I was actually here after I depart this world. But ... In February 2019 I released my first single, "Mid-Century Man." To my great surprise, it received positive feedback from many indie radio presenters around the world and made its debut in the Top 10 on more than 10 stations. I followed MCM with "Be the Sunshine," a psychedelic throwback, and "Fading Away," a more contemporary rocker. These, too, received praise and airplay. I was thrilled to wake up one morning in April and see that "Sunshine" was #2 on Big Indie Giant in South Africa. I've been playing since I was 16 years old, and I though there could be no bigger thrill than hearing my group's 45 RPM single played on local radio in 1970. I was wrong: It's just as exciting -- maybe even more exciting -- at age 70 to see one of my songs on a chart -- any chart, anywhere -- and hear it being played from Australia, Japan, the U.K., Sweden, South Africa, Norway, Sweden, Canada and many U.S. cities. In August I released my debut EP, "Foolish Heart." Both the title track and "Tell Me That You Love Me" from this disc have become #1 hits since! All five songs on the EP are currently being played around the world, and many remain in Top 10 countdowns. Current plans call for the release of a full CD in early 2020. Like my EP, the songs will be a mixture of styles, some of which you've not heard from me. Buy early and often! So, on Thanksgiving Day 2019, I'd like to thank all my fans and every indie radio presenter who has heard something worthwhile in my music. You are the ones who make it all possible. Among presenters I particularly want to thank are Wayne Lundqvist Ford (Ice Cream Man Power Pop and More) in Sweden for being the first presenter to play my music; Michael Charles Dirksen of Big Indie Giant in South Africa for providing the platform for my first #1 hit and for offering advice and publicity; Michael Dougherty from Zootapradio (ZTR.FM) in Fort Worth, Texas, for being a staunch supporter; and Michael Perrin (Micky Spectrum of Spectrum Radio Petts Wood, London, for playing my music and doing a rollicking interview with me. Marc Platt of Radio Candy offers advice, publicity and airplay; Jim Prell of The Music Authority has also been a constant supporter, along with Olli at Radio TFSC in Germany. Ramona Cox and Cynthia Davey of Indie and Country Music with Moniea nd Cynthia have offered support and encouragement. Native Family Radio has been wonderful, and 7522 Radio in Colorado provides one of the best interfaces for listener interaction, which has kept my music in the Top 20 on multiple 7522 charts for most of 2019. More than 100 indie stations worldwide have played and continue to play my music -- my one regret is that I don't know the names of the individual presenters. JoeJoeKeys at Indie Music Plus, James Walsh of The Celebefex Show, Joshua Smotherman of Indie Music Discovery and Bill Damiano of Build The Scene all did wonderful interviews with me. But I have to single out Beth Williams of the Indie Americana Songwriter Show fro doming probably the best interview I've ever had and playing my music. Check out Beth's website (www.bethwilliamsmusic.com): she is a great singer/songwriter. We hope to sing a duet together on my next CD. I musty mention the Artist Bamil Gutiérrez Collado. We have struck up an internet friendship and mutual admiration society although we have never met. Thank you, my brother, for your support! And of course I need to thank the amazing musicians who have played on my songs. Many are lifelong friends, some are relatively new acquaintances. Buddy Hall - My George Martin; my musical brother; friend; producer; guitarist; singer and studio genius. Joe Munroe - engineer, producer, multi-instrumentalist and singer Jim "Doc" Dougherty - slide guitar Jason Kendall - saxophones Steve Dudas - guitar Dave Flodine - guitar George Marcinko- guitar Bert Lerini- drums Mark Pollera -drums And the members of my live band: David Flodinee Harry Levicky Ron Soltis Stephen Delach Danny Gochnour Bert Lerini ADDITIONAL THANKS: Rich Boguszewski - For sitting in my bedroom the entire summer of 1976 to take a stab at writing original songs together, some of which will appear on my CDs. Wayne Somerville -- For songwriting advice and guidance Members of our band Retrograyed: Keith Taylor(KoolKeyTay); Dave Flodine (KoolDeeFlo); Randy Rhodes (KoolRanRo) Bill Toms and the members of Hard Rain featuring the Soulville Horns (Bernie Herr; Steven Binsberger; Tom Breiding; Phil Brontz; Stephen Graham; George Arner) for providing a great example of what a working band should sound like -- and for letting me sub with them as needed. And to their bassist, Tom Valentine, for missing a gig occasionally so I can sub! Dave Prelosky, Photographer Hayley Kile and Jennifer Horovitz of Retro on 8th in Homestead, PA Last but certainly not least, I want to thank Pam Bice, my partner in crime and EP cover model. Her support and patience are unparalleled. Straight down the line, baby! Here's to an even better 202o!
