I turned 64 on Monday and have been playing music since 1966. I have ten years of classical training on both guitar and piano. I was in a few teenage bands in the '60s. Then in the early '70s I bought a Hammond M-3, later upgrading to a B-3/147 Leslie. I played in local bands in the greater Pittsburgh area until the late '80s. I then was inactive in the local music scene until 2006. Two heart attacks had retired me and I received an inheritance. In 2007, I bought an 88-key Roland stage piano, a Fender Strat, an Epiphone Les Paul and a Tascam Digital 8-track recorder.
I then, began writing again, and by 2009 I had written and recorded a 10-song album, singing and playing everything except the drums (due to lack of space in my house, I had to use a drum machine). I'm now using real drums and a 24-track recorder.
The photos of me in the Sgt. Pepper jacket are from a benefit concert last July that I organized for local homeless veterans. We played another show at Christmas, and have raised over $8,000 for our vets.
I have almost 3 hours of music on soundcloud if you'd like to hear more of my music.
Again, thank you for listening.
David
