delight
Upon hearing this intriguing delight, I experienced the same sort of happy, childish surprise that overcomes you when you find three hundred dollars laying on the ground in one of those sketchy alleys in New York City in which old men play chess. At first it started off slow and boring, but as the piece progressed, more complexity appeared, and stimulated my brain both intellectually and emotionally. I'm sure you have, at one point, heard somebody refer to a deep, intellectual quote as food for thought. Well, pieces like these are more like dessert for thought. They are relaxing, although not necessarily slow, and are really to be taken lightheartedly. That being said, it is a piece that does not need to be analyzed at all. It's sole purpose is to entertain. That being said, it is completely senseless to try and review or critique this piece, so I will now stop, because life is too short to overlook beautiful simplicities like this, and it's no use straining for answers from something that was never meant to be questioned at all.

In MY Opinion
Greetings, Thank you for choosing me to review your work, I count it an honor to be included in such a task. My hat is off to you and anyone willing to step out and share their gift, talent and love of music to the public. Be it a musician, singer, song writer, actor and so-on. I myself, via 40 some years of experience in the fields, on the road, in the studio, radio, TV, video, and management, consider myself to be a seasoned musician, singer, song writer, studio-sound tech/engineer/ owner/operator, stage manager, find it sometimes hard/difficult and perhaps not even fair to sit in a seat, voicing My Opinion concerning anothers creative efforts. Especially in certain genres of music I am not all that familiar with concerning very important elements that make up and meet the required standards to justify the various levels of ratings and grades. So, in saying ALL that, I will limit myself to MY Opinion concerning the quality of the work according to My ears, and the standards I have been familiarized with thru-out the years. I hold to the old - saying " Beauty Is In The EAR of The Beholder ... LOL. The sound quality of the recording over-all is crisp and bright and clear, I really enjoyed the backing music. Vocals are smooth, and the message is wonderful. I would really like for the vocals to be brought out to the front a little more and cleared up with a little less processing. Very easy to get sit back and listen to the complete song. It made me want to search out more of your works. I mean no offense in any part, I myself take all feedback and use it as a tool toward my next project. I pray you feel the same way. Either way, I say to you, keep doing what you do, keep kicking and enjoying what you do. I tell folks all the time for many years. When it stops being FUN, then it's time to stop, and stand back and think about what we are doing, why we are doing it, how we are doing it, what we and others are getting out it. Is it what we want, and how we want it. IF NOT. what are willing to do from there? Thank you again for asking MY OPINION. Johnny

Here I Am (On Bended Knee review. this song is a strictly country piece in the highest sense of the word. everything sounds in country style as I said everything recalls thecountry genre. personally it is not my favorite genre but I can give you a musical judgment that is certainly positive because all that there must be in a country piece in your piece is therefore complimented and continues. good job

Sound Quality
As I come to your song and listen to it with an open mind a couple things come to my mind and stick out. One, I would say that it is kind of hard to understand the lyrics. I feel the reason is due to sound quality. I believe if you invest in a better quality recording it would be a lot better. Keep up the good work!

Here I Am
I really like this song. It is good reminder that we can come to God in those moments in need, knowing that is the One who has the power to help us. We can come to God in player, "here I am, oh Lord, ready to receive your blessings"

Love the feel
The intro - while a little long on getting to the lyrics - was very appealing. The style of the accompaniment matched the lyrics very well. The recording itself was a little track heavy. I think the vocals, which were well done, should be more forward in the overall mix. There were a few dropped consonants here and there. I am a proponent of finishing every word so that they are completely understood. This may have been better if the mix was a little better. Overall a very nice tune and one I would listen to again! Thanks!

Dave, I love the lyrics and song melody...The mix on a whole is really good, however it seems like on your vocal track there is a problem with perhaps the noise reductions settings. I use Mix Craft Pro 7.0 and when I put the noise reduction up to high I get a high pitch hissing somewhat like what I am hearing on your vocal track, and it only happens when your vocals come up. I don't know what you are recording with but if you can get rid of that background hiss on vocals this would be sport on my brother. Keep up the good work and Amen!!!!

Lovely song for prayer time
David Erickson has written a lovely song that speaks of a heart humbly entering a time of prayer to the Almighty Eternal. The intro is lovely, and the chord progression is simple yet tasteful, and not simplistic. The song has a nice, pleasing melody and the harmony vocal is so perfectly fitted to the lead, I can't tell if it's the same voice overdubbing, or a second person. The song-writing is solid, simple, and straightforward. The words and music both express and invite the listener into an attitude of heart perfectly suited to come into the presence of God. It could be effectively used in worship as a call to prayer, or as a communion hymn in a denomination that kneels during or after receiving the Body and Blood, such as the Methodist, the Catholic, or the Episcopal churches. The instrumentation is minimal, with a beautifully played guitar, and keyboard with synthetic drums, if I'm not mistaken. There is a hint of steel guitar and electric piano wafting gently and tastefully in the background. The performances by the player(s) on the instruments are flawless. My only reservation about this recording concerns the way the vocals are mixed. While the band sounds like it's right there in the room with you, the vocals sound like they are coming out of a reverb-y box suspended about 8 feet off the floor. In a way, it's a cool effect. You don't hear it often, and if you want a disembodied, angelic sound, this would be an interesting way to achieve it. But on this song, I don't think you want that, because the message is so humble and down to earth. Even if you do want that disembodied effect, the biggest problem is that it makes the words more difficult to understand. In Christian music, of course, the lyrics carry the ministry. Without the lyrics, it's just any other kind of music. Once I tune my ear a little, I can understand the words, but only if I maintain close concentration. The singing is so good, I would like it to feel like it's right there in the room with the rest of the band, only front and center, and down at floor level with the rest of us. Especially in a song about getting down on your knees. All in all, this is good work, and I would be interested in hearing more from David Erickson!

my thoughts
Thank you for posting, thank you for sharing. The music is good, acoustic guitar sounds really good.I would definitly pull out the vocals more to the front. The engineer has so much reverb on your voice that its really hard to get what your saying at times, just cause it sounds really hollow. Some strings would sound good, is that a steel i hear in the back? Thanks again

Here I Am
Hi again Dave. Nice "settling" song. I get the sense of being on my knees right away, and my mind taking me to the throne room right away; but not just to an empty room - a room occupied with Jesus and His presence. I think I may have sent off a comment to you about one of your other songs. With the effects (flanger?) you have created on your voice, might you want to consider to mix your voice a tiny bit louder. After all, I know that you want to relay an important message with a tasteful carrier (the music) Unless it's my own age showing again, I had a bit of trouble understanding your words at various points in the song (predominantly at the beginning of the song). Always love the sporadic steel bending at certain points as accents; very tasteful. Love the consistency of the slowly picked guitar. :) The end of the song makes me want to stay on my knees a bit longer, and talk to the Lord about other things in my own life. Many souls, many souls ministered to do I see. (aka Yoda). lol This song is one that I would love to be able to use for music ministry. ;) Many blessings Dave, Trev. :)

sounds awesome
You should go far. Keep the faith. The instramentation sounds great. Your voice is very smooth and good strength with the music. Perhaps a little more bass when recording to give it that living room effect.

Beautiful song and lyrics.
Nice worship song... played with feeling and sung from the heart! David's melody and chord progressions take me back to the days of Chuck Gerard and the band named Love Song. David plays his guitar with proficiency the Instruments sound good with interesting lyrics, I enjoyed this song a lot!!
