Prince

As I'm sure everyone has heard by now we have lost one of the greatest musical geniuses of our time today, Prince. I would encourage everyone to take a moment and play a Prince song to celebrate his life. I met Prince twice although it was very briefly. Both times it was while I was visiting Minneapolis. Both times it was when I was there on Business in the 90's and the first time I walked from my hotel to a nearby club where a Jazz fusion type band was performing. I had been there for about 30 minutes and was getting ready to leave when the door opens and in walks Prince. He made his way to the stage and talked to the band leader as the band continued to play. Prince jumped up on stage and picked up a guitar and started jamming with the band. Over the next hour Prince proceeded to play every instrument on stage and then simply jumped off the stage and started to leave. I stopped him and let him know how amazing I thought he was and told him he was the best guitarist I'd ever heard. The whole conversation only lasted a few minutes but he took the time to speak to me and was almost embarrassed over the praise I'd given him. He told me that to him music was everything and that he doesn't care about the fame or the fortune just the music. He was a very timid and meek man who truly loved what he did and I will never forget him or his music. Some of his songs definitely inspired some of my own. May he rest in peace and continue to make music in heaven. He will surely be missed. Dave Virgil
