Matt Brown is a musical jack of all trades based in Chicago, IL. Born in Cambridge, England in 1983, he began playing and teaching guitar professionally at the young age of 15. Brown grew up playing in the Dayton, Ohio music scene where he studied with guitar virtuoso Danny Voris. Later, he earned a Bachelor's of Music degree in classical guitar performance from Capital University, where he also studied contemporary guitar and music technology. Brown taught private guitar lessons at Capital's Community Music School before making the move to Chicago.
Currently, Matt keeps himself busy by providing a wide variety of musical services. He frequently performs with his band Dead Parade, in which he sings and plays guitar. The band has released three EPs - Bad Blood (2012), Nowhere Stories (2013), and A High Time For Lowlifes (2016). In 2014, Brown also began recording and performing acoustic music with Dead Parade bassist Nick Guthrie. He also continues to play classical guitar regularly at weddings, art gallery openings, and other various special events around Chicagoland.
In addition to his skills as a performer, Matt is widely known and respected as a guitar and bass instructor. He has taught over 1,000 students of all ages and ability levels. He currently teaches private guitar and bass lessons from his home in the West Town area of Chicago.
