My husband and I are finally able to have some R&R time together so we're taking it in NYC. So many people to see, places to go, and music to hear!! When my dear friend and fellow jazz vocalist, Antoinette Montague, heard that I was in town, she invited me to be a guest on her radio show (see url below). I want to thank everyone who has messaged me about the desire to download some of my songs. In response to those requests, I've just made Midlife Crisis available! It's a song I wrote for a friend who was about to turn 40 years old. Normally a most intuitive and grounded woman, for some odd reason(s) she was starting to freak out about turning 40 just before her birthday. Her experience inspired me to wrote the song. She got through the ordeal with flying colours and we can laugh about it now! :) I hope you enjoy it!

On Friday, February 10th, a large group of Vancouver (BC) based musicians got together to participate in a benefit concert to raise money for one of our beloved musicians who just had surgery for prostate cancer. With a palpable authenticity, towering four-octave range, and a powerful blues and gospel-tinged jazz vocal approach, Dee Daniels has built a sterling reputation amongst jazz fans and critics around the world for over three decades. A mesmerizing storyteller, she is as exciting to watch as she is to hear when expressing the sentiment of a song.
Well represented throughout her career in performances and recordings with such jazz luminaries as Monty Alexander, Russell Malone, Cyrus Chestnut, Houston Person, Bucky Pizzarelli, John Clayton, Ken Peplowski, Kenny Barron, to mention a few, she has also performed and/or recorded with symphony orchestras and big bands globally.
Dee’s international career includes performances in twelve African countries, Australia, South America, the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Japan, India, Russia, throughout Europe, and across the United States and Canada. Career highlights include serving on the Jazz Education Network (JEN) Presidential Advisory Council 2016 - 2018; being named Artistic Director of the Frank DeMiero Jazz Festival (WA) in 2011; the 2009 recipient of an Honourary Doctorate Degree of Fine Arts from Capilano University; starring on the theatre stage in the 2009 premiere of New York choreographer, Twyla Tharp’s, musical, Come Fly Away; 2003 recipient of the prestigious Commemorative Medal for the Golden Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II; induction into the University of Montana’s School of Fine Arts Hall of Honor as well as receipt of the 1997 University of Montana Distinguished Alumni Award; and, 2002 inductee into the BC Entertainment Hall of Fame with plaque installed on Vancouver’s Granville Street Walk of Fame. Dee has 12 CDs as leader to her credit, as well as guest appearances on the CDs of many other great artists. Her most recent CD is the critically acclaimed Intimate Conversations.
