The lurgy finally caught up with me last week and floored me for a couple days. I have about as much energy in my legs as a jellyfish but am trying hard to soak up the spring sunshine which is warm and reminding us all that better days are on the way. Basically it brings out the hippy in me and I can be excited about the bursts of colour appearing in the garden! In fact, last night, for an unadulterated hour, I was my old bohemian self and I played piano with nothing but candles for light as it was World Earth Hour... Musically though, as a result, I haven't been up to much. The last open mic was at The Glad Cafe at the beginning of the month with Alex on drums. The weekly radio show is ongoing. My last guest was the very talented David Duffy, a singer-songwriter from Glasgow set for greater things. Have a listen to the show- it's up on my mixcloud page. His band is called The Makeshifts. I have some great guests heading my way- Marco Rea of Wellgreen, Miss Irenie Rose, Harry and the Hendersons, Bella and the Bear, Old Bohemia and Duglas T Stewart of BMX Bandits. They will be coming on to the Night Nurse radio show, which runs every Wednesday from 10pm til midnight on Pulse 98.4fm. Best reception though is via the internet www.pulseonair.co.uk. I love to offer local talent a platform to share their work and what it means to them. Recording my own music has taken a back seat, again. I really rely on the kindness of good friends to get the one or the other track up there but really there's a couple albums waiting in the wings...I continue to play at open mics around the city. I like the anonymity of them and the fact they are mostly, small, intimate venues where people are supportive and genuine. I also get to scout for acts to come on my radio show. So a win-win.
