First the good news. My song Lay Down beside Me has broken into the Top 40 at #39 and is Number 1 in the state of Ohio. Only with the support of listeners like you could this have been possible. The song was recorded in Nashville with professional musicians available only in a place like that. The combination of pickers, a drummer, a steel player and professional producers to put it all together produced what I believe was my best effort to date.

Now for the bad news. Yesterday morning I opened my Facebook page to the news that one of my Nashville friends, Ross Key, had lost his life in a fall while working in construction. Ross had recently been awarded an Entertainer of the Year Award in the UK. When I put out the word that I wanted to do live shows again the first guy to step forward and give me that opportunity was Ross. We met because we were both N1M Artists and often interacted as such. He used to give me a hard time because I would sometimes be ahead of him on the charts, but always was good natured about it. Last July I performed at a show Ross put together in Lebanon, TN at Smitty's Bar and Grill. My deepest sympathies to Brenda and the family. He was also owner of the Traditional Country Network and worked hard to preserve that music. Traditional Country lost one of its greatet ambassadors with the passing of Ross Key!

As I wind down my career with my day job as a Professor at Eastern Michigan University I am searching for more opportunities to do live performances. Las summer, while in Nashville to record a song, I performed with Ross Key at Smitty's Bar & Grill in Lebanon, TN. Over the past few years my wife Jeanne and I have started a new tradition of "Februarying in Florida." This year we are in Sarasota, which is a welcome respite from the Winters of Northwestern Ohio Among the most significant events of the past year was the birth of my new grand daughter to my daughter Emily in Indianapolis. Thank you all for listening to the music of Distillery Dave!

My sincere appreciation goes out to all of you who have listened to and supported the music of Distillery Dave. I'm currently working on a new project to produce and record a song in Nashville. I will keep you all posted as the project develops, but the finished song should be up for downloading in early 2016. The past few years of my life have been most interesting as I was married last May to my new wife, Jeanne. Thanks to you all and, as always, I'd love to hear from you.

The wife and I recently took a cruise to Alaska for the honeymoon. Started in Anchorage and returned to Vancouver by way of the Inside Passage. Definitely a trip of a lifetime. The glaciers of Hubbard and Mendenhall were absolutely breathtaking. Ship was the Regent Seven Seas Navigator.

Thanks to all of the wonderful fans who have been listening to and supporting the music of Distillery Dave. The mailing list now boasts over 2,700 members . As some of you may already know, I was married on May 22, 2015. On Tuesday my bride and I will be leaving for a honeymoon cruise to Alaska. I recently saw a Judy Collins Concert in Ann Arbor, MI and was inspired to acquire a 12 string guitar. In future performances and recording sessions it will be a major part of the Distillery Dave sound. If you like my music there is nothing I enjoy more than hearing from you.
