(and with many other digital music stations) isoabd is a concept album on the theme of the evolutionary history of life on planet earth. It is a collection of “short passages in the continuum of life”, from instauration in the ocean depths to the present exigency of climate change. From “sunrise” to “the sun goes down”, the album envisions the evolutionary journey (struggle) from the genesis of the single cell of the last universal common ancestor (luca) to the explosion of multi-celled life in the oceans (“out of the dark”), the colonisation of the land Pangaea (“escape into the wilderness”) to the extinction of the dinosaurs (“a stormy day”) and the subsequent rise of the anthropoidean mammals and in particular hominidae, the group of peculiar beings that we belong to. “a winters day (the five ages of ice)” spans the aeons and “a day on the river” completes the historical timeline whereas “in the cold light of day”, “a day for the memory” and “at the end of the day” begs the question, is it a better day?, “does evolution run blind?” and where to from here? “the sun came up … the sun goes down” completes the day (and the story?)
