Dom Cooley is a versatile musician whose songs range from grooving reggae rhythms to emotional ballads, and his own distinctive musical style is laced with diverse influences of Ani di Franco, Bob Dylan, Damien Rice, Bob Marley and Ben Harper. Dom generally brings the more laid back side to things, whilst Kasper “brings the funk” as it were. With his main influences being Sly and the Family Stone, James brown, anything Motown and generally grooving, which makes for a great mix.
After several years of song-writing and becoming fairly well known on the Brisbane roots music circuit as a more vocal audience member, Dom made the move to the other side of the microphone in August 2004, supporting Loren at Milton’s Alley Bar. He has since become a regular favourite at the Alley Bar, as well as Brisbane’s Verve Café Bar and Fortitude Valley’s Troubadour.
