Song Reviews

"What they want to Hear" is exactly what I want to hear more of!

Upon your very first listen to "What they want to Hear" by Allentown, Pennsylvania based artist Don cauthon - you cannot help but to be deeply impressed by the fine musicianship, exceptional songcraft and profoundly inspired production values. While Don cauthon's musical influences do reveal themselves, he has achieved a unique sound that is undoubtedly his own, Highly recommended!

Not much variation in here

What we hear is a two chord pattern out of one of these rhythm machines I cannot precisely name. My own experience with stuff like this is limited to a simple drum computer. Anyway, above this two chord pattern, a lead voice tells us something meaningful, rather narrative than really sung. In some moments I can hear something like a chorus, a hookline, but as it is not really a melody, it vanishes right away in my head. Besides this, there is nothing interesting in here. The pattern rolls along with hardly any variation or change, and so does the voice. I guess this one's not adressed to rock music fans but rather to the recipients of the message. That's of course basically ok. Everyone's got the right to speak up, and if this is the medium of choice for you, I won't criticise it. But still it's got not much to do with rock music for me.

voce giusta

What They Want To Hear review

This really starts out with a big beat, which I've always been a fan of. You have an interesting style going on here with the minimalistic backing track and a sort of preaching vocal to relay your message. The production is simple, since there isn't much to mix. Clear and straight forward. I may suggest compressing your vocals a bit to get them a little more out front of the track. All in all, not a bad effort. Good luck with all the rest of your endeavors. Keep writing!

WHAT THEY WANT TO HEAR

FIRST OFF I LIKE THE SPACE THATS IN THIS TRACK IT HAS A KIND OF DANCE BEAT WITH TALK SING VOCALS REMINISCENT OF MARK KNOPFLER BOB DYLAN THAT TYPE OF VIBE WOULD BENEFIT FROM A BRIDGE OR CHANGE SOMEWHERE TO ADD SOME NEEDED LIGHT AND SHADE OTHERWISE A GREAT EFFORT WORTH CHECKING OUT

Tell Em More

One of the things I enjoy most about Number One Music artists is the newfound ability to hear music from around the world by singers who I'd never have the chance to listen to otherwise. That, in itself, is a great thing. Here, with this song the fast paced dance beat is an interesting choice for the country styled vocals of Don. I appreciate the effort that went into making this song.
