Gayla James has a smooth jazzy easy listening sound with a message. Her vocal style on her latest release "Shadows" is reminiscent of the earlier female jazz singers such as Nancy Wilson.

I was very impressed by the sound and the feel of this track along with the style and skill of the vocalist. Mixed very well, the instrumentation and the clarity on this one are great !!! It has an innovative R&B feel with that gospel flavoring all over the top of it. It truly brings back the memories of R&B back in the day and is combined very will with the newness of contemporary gospel. I don't know much about gospel, except that it had some amazing singers. However, this seems to be an evolution of gospel music towards R&B and Hip Hop. Very smooth, professional production and beautifully performed by Gayla James. Nice.

Nice balance mellow groove and mix, all instruments complementing each other very nicely. I love the Christian theme lyrical vibe pure radical truth. Nice vocal lyrics, a great positive messages, Definition on the mic for sure, The shadow theme is deep and on point. At first I hesitated to click the play button - with song sent to me by TDWGN, I expected something "gospel" and "hiphop" - both genres I'm far from being fond of. Luckily I did click and got really surprised. What I found was a chilly dreamy jazzy song - which I love. The arrangement is rather simplistic and straightforward (with nice details here and there) but in the best way possible. It creates the mood of the song and nicely supports the melody and vocals of Gáyla James - her voice is both rich and sensitive, not trying to overperform, but to deliver emotions - and succeeds. Mixed all together, Gáyla James created timeless gem worth listening again and again.
