The Storm - Bounty Hunter (Me, a guitar, a story)
The Storm - Bounty Hunter
Written and, Performed By Doug Jackson
Wind’s steady blowin, a storm’s comin on
And, it hurts like hell knowin, things that I done
A long time ago, I gave up my soul
All I got left is try to live with myself
Before I move on
I took some chances, when I was young
Took the Devil for dances, to live by the gun
I don‘t pretend, I don’t know how this ends
Or, what I’ve become, what’s done is done
Before I move on
I don’t worry about tomorrow
Until I’m done with today
Every sunrise here’s just borrowed
From a short life, anyway
Faces they haunt me, from mem’ries I’ve known
And, years that I won’t see, to claim growin’ old
Life’s only promise, is a grave when I’m done
I’ll never outlast, things from my past
Before I move on
I didn’t choose, all the things I done wrong
I just paid the dues, to keep livin’ on
I’m still alive and, I will survive
To lay em’ all down, 6 feet under ground
Before I move on
I don’t worry about tomorrow
Until I’m done with today
Every sunrise here’s just borrowed
From a short life, anyway
So, here I am breathin, ’stead o’ them I made gone
And, I won’t be forgiven, when my time finally comes
I’m just a storm, and I’m packin harm
If this is your day, it’s your time to pay
Before I move on
I don’t worry about tomorrow
Until I’m done with today
Every sunrise here’s just borrowed
From a short life, anyway
As bad as I am, there’s worse to be found
And, I aim to cross their trail
In the blink of an eye, they draw and, they die
My 44 ends their tale
I don’t worry about tomorrow
Until I’m done with today
Every sunrise here’s just borrowed
From a short life, anyway
You always know what you got, with a storm
And, a whole lot can change, ‘fore it moves on
You just hope and pray, that it don’t stay long
And, the dirt that's piled up gets washed away - by the storm...
