Downcast Theory is:
Matt Simon (Lead Vocals and Guitar); Jake Raynor (Lead Guitar and Vocals); Kenny Earl (Bass); Matt "Raundawg" Raunick (Drums) Downcast Theory was formed in Central New Jersey in June of 2007. Founding members Matt Simon and Jake Raynor were friends for many years and had been working on an acoustic project during the winter of ’07. They decided in the spring that they wanted a full project and that it was time to begin the search for more band members. Matt Raunick came to Downcast Theory after playing in bands such as Rising Falls, and Jake's former band, Brewtuhl. Kenny Earl was the elusive missing piece that came to them through a recommendation by Matt Simon’s brother. He joined them in June to finalize the line-up of Matt Simon (Lead Vocal and Guitar), Jake Raynor (Lead Guitar and Vocals), Kenny Earl (Bass), and Matt “Raundawg” Raunick (Drums). This has been the line-up since the start. The music of Downcast Theory is heavily influenced by hard-rock powerhouses Godsmack, Shinedown, Seether and the like. An immediate emphasis was put on making all music original and the band has their sights set on the mainstream. No instrument goes unnoticed; no vocal goes without careful consideration. This music was made to be heard, and it will be. The Downward Spiral Has Begun.
