About Dubzilla

It happened in the long-past year of 2006 somewhere in Podgurje, south of the river Krka and north of the Gorjanci Hills. Dubzilla first saw the light of day and the first unsuspecting ears heard the sound of “Podgurje dub”!

The genetic substance of Dubzilla are the enticing dub and reggae tradition which are intertwined with many different genres – from the more trendy dance-electric trysts, to rock, post-rock, sampling and gramophonic diversions. It all flows together to form the daring “Podgurje dub”. The instrumental dub music recorded on their first CD, Dubzilla – DUBZILLA (2011, Založba Radia Študent – ZARŠ), is mixed with other styles like rock, electro and trip-hop and also includes elements of the Yugoslav legacy of folk music traditions. Individual Dubzilla songs have already been captured on KLUBSKI MARATON (2008, Založba Radia Študent – ZARŠ) and FRAJTONDUB-2011-01 (2011, KIBLA – ToX) compilations.
