a fresh funky sound
This fresh and brilliant song "Kick back", with a good funky sound and a catchy bass line is captivating . Something more had to be adjusted in the mixing, in fact on one hand the instrumental section is well mixed and equalized , on the other hand the vocals sound is a bit grave , it needs to be panned more frontally in the middle of the spectrum scene . Moreover , under my opinion, there is too much reverb effect on vocals and globally the equ is not well balanced .Also the dynamics have not been set properly , perhaps it would have been more appropriate to use a parallel compression to adjust the balance of dynamics in the instruments and vocals part .Finally by listening to the song I have the perception that the instruments and the vocals have been recorded in different studios ,as if there are two different sessions that do not match exactly as it was supposed to be. However, apart from the technical judgment,"Kick Back " by Duceman is definitely a good song, and I recommend it.

Nice groove with well articulated vocals. Sounds like a well mixed and mastered piece and the melody compliments the vocal arrangement superbly. Thank you for putting your musical prowess on display as it helps a musician identify with your efforts and appreciate the work involved. Kudos to all involved in this arrangement as it is a good one. Keep up the good work!

Duceman takes you to another realm, a short journey to groove city, better yet a full discovery trip to grooveland. Makes you wanna move your hips suggestively to the rhythm and let music carry you. The overall mix is made just so you cannot miss a single instrument. Worth everybody's time.....

Not bad at all bro I like the groove and the vocal idea's that you use. The vocal tone of your voice is nice and comforting, and easy to understand. The sound that you have and "I mean this as a compliment" is a throwback to a time when music was real and expressed real feeling through song. Good Job

Duceman has got the Funk
What can I say... I DIG IT! It has all the right elements for a good Funky R&B song. Great beat, catchy hook, and a slappin' snare drum beat, oh..and that bass Bass GTar. Great production. Reminds me of Earth, Wind and Fire. It makes me want to "Kick Back" and listen to more.

Sexy bass, ballad from Duceman
First of all I was gratefully surpprised for overall sound of the song.I suppose that we have a drum machine here, but bass pump and slap make it all round and swingy that a good funky song must to keep .Voices are a little difuse and chorus is shorty but effective.Nice mix and overall production, nice lirycs .Bass guitar sounds exellent. If I have to show someone what kind of bass player do I´ll need for my project .Thats the one!

Duceman take your ass & ears for a funky ride.
Kickback is a wonderfully composed portion of Neo-Soul. Bringing elements of Bootsy Collins & Ronnie Laws There is both a "laid-back" yet subtle power in the performance proving live music never dies! Duceman makes it more than obvious that he is bringing The Funk (with a capital F) & has no qualms about kicking the "rhythmically challenged haters" to the curb. I'm certainly looking forward to an entire album of Duceman's slippery-jams, specially if they incorporate a few horns to the mix & bring a pro mixer into the artistic chain (more bass-drum-less-snare) the universe will be their limit.

old slow grove music
Something is cluttering up the natural beautiful harmony. However it's got some kind of a nice jazzy grove feel that makes you do that slow foot stomp and side to side head move that feels so good.

Kick Back Review
Hi Duceman; Thanks for sending me the tune! The music is very good, with great tones, great playing (I'm guessing you're the bass player) and tight drums (real drums or programmed?). So, my critique would be this: The vocals are mixed too low and with too many effects. My advice is to have the lead vocal mixed with little or no effect and more 'upfront', the backing vocals taking a lighter role but still could have the harmonies and effects. It reminds me of Take 6 when they teamed up with Yellowjackets. Footnote: The Drums get a little behind the beat in the outro, but that can be altered by ProTools. In general a great tune! All the best! -Roger / Friend Productions
