Dear listeners,

I am currently on an airplane heading from Toronto to Vancouver, cant wait to see everyone. I will be catching up and working with Tim Steinruck (The mighty one), also I will be meeting Mark Rosner (President of Big Records) for the first time in person. We have spoken countless times over the internet but never in person. I will be staying on Pender Island for a couple of days. I am hoping to work with Sarah Smith in the studio so we can finish up the song we wrote together in April. I am so grateful to Sarah for her help and support. I am also looking forward to the quiet and peacefulness. Reflection and grounding are necessary.

We are just waiting on word from Sony/Orchard confirming a release date for our newest single Dangerous. Both Tim Steinruck and I are waiting patiently. We will be shooting a video for Dangerous!! Dangerous was written by Tim Steinruck specifically for me to sing on. It was recorded at Begin Street Studios in Coquitlam, BC in Canada. I am very excited to be a part of something so big!

I have teamed up with Shaine Derrick and Tim Pitman in the UK. Tim is an amazing musician and producer. Shaine sounds absolutely legendary on the guitar. We have completed a new song “Room 503”. Tim did an absolute marvellous job of mixing and producing. I hope to have the pleasure of working with them for a long time to come.

I met Shaine on a flight from Schipol airport to Johannesburg in South Africa in 2010. It was New Year’s Eve so everything at the airport was closed and our next flight to Cape Town was at 6am. We found the only place still open, a small coffee shop. We sat and chatted all night. When I met my sister in South Africa for the first time Shaine had taken a picture of us as we met. I had no idea he had taken the picture and I was very surprised to find the picture in my inbox. Shaine is thoughtful in that way. Here we are over a decade later and working together. Isn’t life interesting?

A few weeks ago I was approached by Bentley Records saying that they would love to have me back. Needless to say I now belong to Big Records and Bentley records. Still trying to sort out which songs to release through Big Records/Sony/Orchard and which ones to release through Bentley.

We will be touring with RiseUp TV in 2024. First a tour of Ontario and Quebec and then off to Newfoundland. Join up with hived music to see what is happening with RiseUp! ((expired link)).

Dear listeners,

We have had a crazy August. Both myself and my spouse had Covid, I ended up with viral pneumonia and she was diagnosed with something called Brugada syndrome which is a very serious heart condition. As those of you who have been watching my videos you will see that I had a bunch of health things going on as well. The good news is that they have cut or switched some meds and I am feeling much better. Going to test my voice today to see if it’s back. When they did the endoscopy my throat and voice were pretty much shot. I am hoping September will be kinder.

We are moving ahead with the Gordon Lightfoot tribute show. It will feature most of Gordon Lightfoot’s hits plus a few covers and some originals. It will be a great night out!!

For those who are interested in vocal training I would recommend Jan Cooper. His knowledge of music and his demeanour are amazing. When I was first looking at meeting with him I was a little intimidated and by that I mean I was really intimidated!! Within 30 seconds we were doing great and I we became fast friends. We are also getting ready for the release of Dangerous!! We will be doing a photoshoot in the coming week or two (Rudy Graf is the photographer) . I will be letting you know the exact release date for Dangerous as soon as I know. We were shooting for October 2nd but let’s see. I will be in the Vancouver area on or around October 10th. I am looking forward to writing a new song with Tim Steinruck (The Mighty One) and also shooting a video for Dangerous.

On a sadder note we lost an artist in August, Glen Caine was a fantastic country musician. He was very well known in the country music circles and he had played with many well known country artists including Merle Haggard. He will be missed by all of us. I hope you are all having an amazing week!! Unfortunately the Dorchester Golf and Country Club has cancelled the Golf for MS event scheduled for this coming weekend (July 29th, 2023). I am disappointed but there will be more shows coming up. We have a new version of Night Train that we will be releasing called “Night Train Live!”. It has been posted in some areas online (N1M) and Facebook but its official release date is currently unknown. Keep your ear to the ground because it will be out there for you to hear.

We are continuing to rehearse for the Gordon Lightfoot Tribute show and shows are set to begin in the fall.

I was thinking of something the other day. About 5 or 6 years ago I was in pretty bad shape. I had sold all my equipment including my beloved guitars, amps, mics, even my watch in order to survive. 2 long time friends of mine who are brothers got together with me for coffee. With them they had a purple Fender Squire. They gave me that guitar so I could carry on playing. It actually changed the course of my life and those guys (they know who they are) probably saved my life. The guitar still sits in my collection and I will never part with it. It is a reminder to me every day to NEVER give up on yourselves, ever. YOU ARE WORTH MORE THAN YOU KNOW!!

Jan Cooper is a great friend and is the head of Cooper Studios, Pump Records and is one of Canada's top vocal coaches. He has worked with many of the industry's top producers and writers, including Loverboy, Whitesnake, Grammy award-winning producer Bob Rock, Alex Wong of So You Think You Can Dance, Lisa Brockop, and US5 among many others.

Jan acts as a representative for bands at the world music trade shows MIDEM in Cannes for the past 29 years as well as Berlin's Popkomm.

I love being out very early in the morning with my trusty dog Ringo, which is when I do most of my videos. We recently received a kitten into our home, I names her Yoko. So I have Ringo and Yoko over at my house!!

The next show on our agenda is the MS the 2nd Annual MS Golf Tournament at the Dorchester Golf and Country Club at 3342 Hamilton Road in Dorchester Ontario on July 29th. Then MS day at the A&W at exit 99 off the 401 on August 17th just east of London. There will be many classic cars there to see so come on out!! We have been working very hard on the set list and I know it will be a blast!!

With Summer knocking at our door it’s time to get things rolling!

I will be playing a number of fund raisers throughout the summer beginning with the Caremakers Family Fun Day on June 10th at the Petro Canada and Harveys at exit 99 on Highway 401 just outside of London, Ontario. There will be many classic cars there so come on out and show your support!! Then the 2nd Annual MS Golf Tournament at the Dorchester Golf and Country Club at 3342 Hamilton Road in Dorchester Ontario on July 29th. This is followed by MS day on August 17th again at exit 99 on the 401 just east of London. There will be many classic cars there to see so come on out!!

Jan Cooper is a fantastic vocal coach and mentor who has worked with hundreds of men, women and children to improve their singing ability, stage presence, just about every aspect of performing is covered. Jan has worked with many many artists including the group LoverBoy and also Whitesnake. I have been working with Jan for quite some time now and the experience has been very rewarding. I must say that people have noticed that my voice has improved very noticeably!! We meet once a week and I look forward to it every week!! If you have children or know someone with children who might be interested in some vocal training this is the man to talk to. Amazingly friendly and very inexpensive, especially considering his qualifications!!

The newest cover was uploaded to N1M today, it is The Beatles song “Rocky Raccoon”. When we uploaded “With a little help from my friends” it features John on harmonies and Johns daughter Cecilia on flute. The amazing thing is that it was recorded 12 years ago. When I first heard the recording I started singing along to it and we discovered that John was singing the lower harmonies! We took the original recording and tracked it and then we added the lead vocals, drums and bass. Cecilia’s flute can be heard in the chorus of the song. I have since heard “Rocky Raccoon” which features Cecilia on vocals. You can hear it on N1M and also SoundCloud and also on (expired link).

As many of you know I will be flying out to British Columbia tomorrow. I will be in the studio at 26-8 Studios in Coquitlam, BC, Canada recording a new song and also filming a video. I will be taking video before and during the flight and also throughout my time in BC.

The newest cover was uploaded to N1M today, it is The Beatles song “Rocky Raccoon”. When we uploaded “With a little help from my friends” it features John on harmonies and Johns daughter Cecilia on flute. The amazing thing is that it was recorded 12 years ago. When I first heard the recording I started singing along to it and we discovered that John was singing the lower harmonies! We took the original recording and tracked it and then we added the lead vocals, drums and bass. Cecilia’s flute can be heard in the chorus of the song. I have since heard “Rocky Raccoon” which features John on vocals and Cecilia on flute. You can hear it on N1M and also SoundCloud and also on (expired link).

As many of you know I will be flying out to British Columbia tomorrow. I will be in the studio at 26-8 Studios in Coquitlam, BC, Canada recording a new song and also filming a video. I will be taking video before and during the flight and also throughout my time in BC.

We will be performing at the fundraiser for MS located at the Dorchester golf club in June. Please come on out and show your support, play a round of golf and enjoy a wonderful meal in Dorchester this summer!! I will include more details in the next newsletter.

We are very excited about the newest release “Straight C kid”. We worked very hard on this and with it being produced by Tim Steinruck at 26-8 Music Inc. in Coquitlam, British Columbia. I would recommend them to anyone. I always say that we can put the final touches on a song but it’s the mixers and producers that add the magic!!

I will be heading to British Columbia in April. I am looking forward to shooting a new video thanks to Francis Kenny of Dub Bless Media. I have had the pleasure of working with Francis while on the RiseUp tours. Francis is incredibly talented behind the camera and also on social media. He has been instrumental in helping to get the DustyMarcus brand out there. The name of the song is "Stay" and we can't wait for you to hear it!!
