@ Kelly Strayhorn Theater
A man and three women, dancing in isolation, inhabit a destroyed landscape punctuated with trash and dead trees. As attempts to communicate fail, they seek their own survival strategies—while an astonished bystander tries, unsuccessfully, to comprehend.
TanzTheater André Koslowski has earned a reputation for staging intense dance theater works that challenge and provoke, and this performance continues the company’s exploration of the boundaries of dance and theater. Attendees can expect a bracing and thought-provoking experience, dark in tone, but laced with wicked humor.
Dancer-choreographer André Koslowski, in collaboration with Swiss theater-maker Leonie Stein, built on last season’s “Wiegenlied”—the German word for lullaby—to create this new, evening-length piece. As the name suggests, “A Cantankerous Wiegenlied” is intense, but contains many moments of silence that open spaces for personal associations and reflections. – Clyde Smith, DanceLand$10.00-$25.00All Ages
