Song Reviews

This is the best artist you have yet to hear of...but you will!

Erik Careswell is a talent to be sure. This is the second track of his I have enjoyed and I must say he does not disappoint. I was immediately called back to NIN "Pretty Hate Machine"; Erik has great production instincts, this song is sleek and clean; his voice is evocative, and well seasoned for a young man. I appreciate the depth of his content as it is reflective of self awareness, which he uses well to color in his passion's intention. This is an artist to watch!!! Check out his catalog as he is a very compelling songwriter. Many Blessings!

this is a great riff in the intro, a real dirty sounding attention grabber. Hints of Marilyn Manson/Depeche/Tears For Fears (voice) Mode here, a mix of eighties sounds with a modern twist. I have to say that this sounds like a real professional job, it's all done very well, from the writing to the performances and on to the recording and mix. I could hear this on the radio very easily. Love it...listened twice! Great job.

this song is a strictly alternative piece in the highest sense of the word. everything sounds in alternative style as I said everything recalls the soul genre maybe the voice is too low. personally it is not my favorite genre but I can give you a musical judgment that is certainly positive because all that there must be in a alternative piece in your piece is therefore complimented and continues. good job

Great Recording

You did a phenomenal, fantastic, extravagant job on this piece of music. Your song is a piece of art and I am confident that if you continue this type of work with the right amount of passion then you will go far in this business. If you don't mind my saying, I think you should reach out to some graphic designers, photographers, producers, editors, collaborators, labels and anything and everything else that has to do with the business because you have the talent to go far. You just need to get in touch with the right people.

Climax

Saludoss

Dig it!!!

Dude, this song kicks major ass! Right from the start I was hooked! The groove, the whole feel of the song... your voice is very hypnotic and cool sounding! I love the way instruments crescendo in and out which gives the song even more definition. Very very cool my friend!! At first it kind of sounded like Marilyn Manson, which is a compliment in itself, but the more I listened the more it sounded more unique and different which is even better because you have “your own sound”!!!! I can totally hear this song on the radio right now!!! Love it!! Can’t wait to hear more of your songs my friend!!

Grind your ears to the Careswell axe stone.

Erik pushes the envelope a bit further with this electro burner, much akin to Scraping Foetus off the Wheels (Jim Thirwell). This is another synth driven grinder that promotes suspense and suspended climax. Erik has a very good sense of timing and arrangement, this song is witness to that fact. Moving right along against a very fat, slightly warbled bass and snapping drum line, Erik sinks into the obscure melancholy once again with throaty, whispered lyrics. Another great track from his repertoire, I am beginning to become a sworn fan of his work. Which is rare indeed.

I hear the message, a bit like The Cure and their hard love messages. I like it less than your other songs ,but I do like the counterpoint of the vocalists and the backbeat. A song that sticks in your mind a long time. Looking overall like a chart topper. I bet you get more rave reviews! Love is the drug in this song.

Mind altering RLT

Helpful

This song you wrote (Road Less Traveled) has a deep chest thumping rhythm. Done with a recurring theme throughout which seems to roar and then growl. Very effective when you’re trying captivate and hold onto a person’s attention in order to convey the message in your heart. As I listened to it I would get a vision of Duran Duran when hearing the cleaver Synth stabs although I would not at all think that your song boar any relation to that band. As far as the vocals go, I could hear that you have a nice voice however, not being loud enough in the mix for my liking, I did get a sense of the person with the producer's hat was trying too hard to obscure (darken) the vocal for that mind altering effect (for the listener to become more attentive or get deeper into the song) an effect used by others before, and something which is very difficult to achieve because the average person wants to understand what the singer is saying. That means that you may lose some market share (audience) in the process. Hey; I do that myself then kick myself later. So, on that issue I err as well. That last bit at the end (I call it the kick back) where the music seem to breathe again after you think it's going to finish. It’s cleaver and perhaps something unintended that sounded alright so was left in however, we all know it's coming because it can be seen in the wave sample that there is more to come. So it takes the surprise away. It used to work pretty good in the old days of analogue. All in all a pretty nice song that you may be able to trance to. I have given you three and halve stars. I would have given more but for the mix of the vocal (too low). But that has nothing to do with the caliber of the song writing. I hope you like my review and get something to reflect on from it. I'm not an expert but have been playing and writing for over thirty years. Erik, I hope to hear more from you as you have talent.

When pop rock meets electronic music it could give a lot fo things that we can here anywhere but sometimes it makes perfect combination like here with a good melody and a cool voice with some industrial pitch. It's a really good song, remind me some stuff from 90's like old schoold songs from Orgy or a very soft Alice in Chains song. A little bit of rock, indus and grunge that sounds well. That keyboard is pretty nice hah !

This is a great sounding and well produced song that will keep you engage from the start. There is a nice interaction between Erick and another vocalist. It has an industrial feel, and drives you along as it plays. Reminds me a little bit of NIN and/or perhaps Garbage. Overall this is a solid song with good atmospherics. Definitely take a listen!

Thumbs up

I really like this track. The style is right in the pocket I tend to enjoy, and the mood flows nicely. If I were to offer any constructive criticisms, I would say to turn up the vocal FAR higher. They slither well over the music, and if they were more prominent, and maybe very subtly effected (maybe chorus?), the entire thing would pop more. The entire arrangement is very simple, which can be effective... but requires that you rely on the inherent variability in a vocal performance to give it a good flow. I's love to hear this artist dig into the production/engineering piece a bit deeper.

Cool Distortion

Helpful

I like the rough distorted instrumentals. The background reverb is a nice touch, but I can't understand the words very well. The sound comes in waves, which is cool. All of the sounds work well to drive the tempo. I like the synth that comes in and out. I think this track is well put together but there are a lot of sounds incorporated and I'm not sure about the levels. There is a high pitched bell-type sound, that I believe is more on the Left audio that caused me to put my head in the speakers because I have tinnitus and I was confused. This is all stylistic, so it's not important. Overall, it's a cool track like always from Erik.

Dope & Different

First verse reeled me in along with the raspy crawl of the artists voice & the bass knocked well so the track kept me listening until the end gave me a goth pop type of vibe to be honest tho but still dope
