Song Reviews
A genius unacknowledged is a tragic thing.
There's something a little deeper and more relevant to Erik Careswell and his musical escapades that demand inspection. Granted that Painted On Heart is a decent song, it has the dejected feel and melancholy of Smashing Pumpkins when they took off into their "sad introspection" years. But this is just a taste of the grasses before the mountain, which is the body of Erik's work, and wherein lies much more provocative and deeply moving material. Erik's been on the internet music scene for many years and has amassed a decent following - not through spectacle and audacity, but by pure emotion and talented voicing through his songs. A much better recommendation would be any of his other songs, Engines for instance. Which blisters the ears into a state of hyper-awareness and brings you directly into the inner circle. It's rare to see and hear naturally talented individuals and Erik is indeed a rarity.

a review of Painted On Heart
if you like Prince or John Mayer you will LOVE this track.... Erik really goes deep on this one, isolation and pain give way to inner strength.... the music is sparse but meaningful and resonates with the emptiness of a person who is searching for acceptance and Love.... nothing flowery or sugary here, pure emotion and very substantial mix to help us all power through our own hard times. i look forward to Erik's continued efforts paying off with great success ! this track should be a part of your playlist, especially if you are in that "overcoming adversity" stage of life that we all go through at least once.

Painted On Heart ---
A Signature Song in your repertoire for depth of feeling and poetic lyrical genius. Calls to mind the songs of Savage Garden, like Chained to You and To The Moon and Back. Some songs stay in the hearts of listeners because the lyrics resonate deep within the soul, heart and spirit. For anyone who has has had a passive aggressive relationship this is a song that affirms and justifies the pain of such a liason. It surely will minister to all who have suffered such pain because they can find a common ground. Excellent percussion!

Nice!
It has good vocals, it sounds very 70's. A bit out dated but im sure there is plenty that would enjoy the nostalgic feeling in this beat. I like the production too, everything fit very well. Good job man! Keep it up. It definitely sounds like its your own style, and you're rocking it. Its very original, and very groovy in its own extent. I enjoyed it, and it not really my kind of music. My only constructive criticism would be to add and alternating bridge that displays your vocals a bit more, there than that. Great job!

yes
I love the minimal things I love the essential the synthesis in every form is manifested. your piece is very minimal and even your voice almost suffused, slightly scratchy, almost as if you were whispering intersects in your music in an almost perfect as if the two entities pre-existed to the composition of the song as if they were always together, as if one needs the other and would not exist without her.

I love it and I'm not lie when I said that this song is amazing
I like so much the mix of trip hop,the power line voice I think this song is very sensual and cool I just have one complain the music needs to be more powerful in the same way but more punchy

Very unique!
Very nice tune! It had a nice vibe to it as well where the voice was right out front and had a unique quality to it. Your sound kind of reminded me of prints which I thought was an amazing artist. You have the ability to take your talents very far with what you’ve got here. Regarding the production trust me I’ve heard worse this isn’t bad at all in fact I liked it! I would like to hear other tunes from you as well in the future keep up the great work!

Very passionate.
I like the need timing things going on. Very passionate. It builds nicely.. going into the chorus. I also like how the feel changes in the chorus. It's cool how you are using the same four chords but because the feel changes you don't get bored. Nice work.

Just thoughts and feelings
The emotion is all over the place. Just too narsistic. Everybody feels soo different. No body likeyou? the makes me wannaa laugh and say Really? Sounds too shallow. Not Real enough. Not honest enough. I know you are trying to say something. But what? "No ones ever felt like you? " EVERYONE FEELS LIKE THAT AT LEAST ONCE Thats the thing. Too wide , Its a good line but not a hook to build a whole song on and get some real responce emotionally. Sorry but this is how I feel. Remember..Just cause you feel something doesnt make it right, I could be very wrong.

Nice 80's vibe
I love the raw 80's feel. It reminds me a little bit of George Michael or Tears for fears. Interesting lyrics as well. "No one's ever been like me". I would've given 5 starts but asking people to NOT give production notes is a tad disappointing. (Asking people to not offer production notes implies you already know it's not up to snuff) And honestly, if YOU don't feel that the production is where it needs to be, you shouldn't be releasing it to the public. I hear a lot of real potential though. Keep at it.

Symbiotic style in different ways of music
A really nice song with dramaticaly feelings. Liked it right from the start. Mixing and mastering is brilliant how it is expected from a musician, who appropriated in different styles of music. The song implementing unconventional sounds and effects creating a great space in the backround. Erik Careswell performs with a great unique voice making this wonderful composition complete. The engaging drums and the bass-lines also very special in this arrangement. They all together forcing the music constantly on a higher level. Erik is an self-produced and self-engineered internet recording artist who understand what good music is about. The lyrics comes from the heart and touches the soul. The refrain makes the meaning of the song engaging for me. A story above melancholy feelings which are not deterred in relationship by danger or pain, turning again into engaging hope through love. This extra factor brings increases feeling into the song. Overall a really impressive and professional composition and definitely very creative. I´m sure, you will like to add it. Let others know your recommendation.

Nice song...
I don’t know... has kind of a Sinead O’Connor feel to it. Not saying it sounds old, just reminds me of “Nothing Compares to You”. I don’t know how old you are; you might not know or remember that one from the 80’s. You don’t want technical commentary, so I’ll simply say that I do like the song, but think it could be done better - that may be over the line a little, but what else can I say, I’m feeling a bit restricted. Irrespective, of my criticism, again, I do like the song and your vocal style fits well with it. So, with that in mind and the fact that it’s, I assume, a demo, I’m still giving it a relatively high mark. Hope this helps. Ted
