very good

The Struggle review. this song is a strictly Country piece in the highest sense of the word. everything sounds in Country style as I said everything recalls the Country genre. personally it is not my favorite genre but I can give you a musical judgment that is certainly positive because all that there must be in a Country piece in your piece is therefore complimented and continues. good job

Sweet country

Sweet country voice for God. It's a nice praise and thankfulness of song. The rhythm of the song was nice. Felt upbeat and pleasant. Great listening for in the car or traveling. Reminds me of old time country.

We Christian song writers

I give u alot of credit writing Christian music for our lord its actually wonderful when the music comes through. The holy spirit opens us up to receive always take it hes doing it for a reason. Your song is a good sound I wonder if u work with a Producer I do I always do they always give u a perspective on your song, and they spend time on the mix which is very important. You can use a good mix and mastering that would help your son immensely. It depends on how serious you are about your music. All I can say is good luck and god bless. Vince

"LISTENING TO "THE STRUGGLE" WAS NOT A STRUGGLE AT ALL!"

Listening to "THE STRUGGLE" by Esther Swably, was definitely not a struggle! What a pleasurable experience! Ms. Swably has a voice that's easy to listen to, and the great guitar accompaniment adds to the whole experience. The guitar is perfectly positioned both to emphasize her vocal ability and to show the talent of the instrumentalist. Many times, when listening to a vocalist with a guitar accompaniment, the guitar may be either overpowering or barely heard at all. That is certainly not the case here. Together, the guitar and her voice actually emphasize each other, without either one being overpowering. Ms. Swablly's voice is perfectly spotlighted by a very skilled guitar accompanist. The words to the song are very nice and again, make listening a great experience. Esther Swably has one of those gentle but direct voices that make the lyrics really stand out, Listening to Esther Swably's "The Struggle" was a very enjoyable experience indeed, and the urge to press "replay" was felt as soon as the song ended. Kudos to Esther Swabby for her vice, the lyrics, and a great guitar accompaniment! I'm going to quit writing now, and go press "replay"!

In MY Opinion

Greetings, Thank you for choosing me to review your work, I count it an honor to be included in such a task. My hat is off to you and anyone willing to step out and share their gift, talent and love of music to the public. Be it a musician, singer, song writer, actor and so-on. I myself, via 40 some years of experience in the fields, on the road, in the studio, radio, TV, video, and management, consider myself to be a seasoned musician, singer, song writer, studio-sound tech/engineer/ owner/operator, stage manager, find it sometimes hard/difficult and perhaps not even fair to sit in a seat, voicing My Opinion concerning another's creative efforts. Especially in certain genres of music I am not all that familiar with concerning very important elements that make up and meet the required standards to justify the various levels of ratings and grades. So, in saying ALL that, I will limit myself to MY Opinion concerning the quality of the work according to My ears, and the standards I have been familiarized with thru-out the years. I hold to the old - saying " Beauty Is In The EAR of The Beholder ... LOL. The sound quality of the recording over-all is very crisp and bright and clear, I really enjoyed the soft guitar work. Vocals are smooth and natural, sort of - down to earth as they say, and extremely peaceful. The mix levels let me know who was still in charge of this song. Very easy to sit back and listen to. Great Message. Wonderful backing music. I mean no offense in any part, I myself take all feedback and use it as a tool toward my next project. I pray you feel the same way. Either way, I say to you, keep doing what you do, keep kicking and enjoying what you do. I tell folks all the time for many years. When it stops being FUN, then it's time to stop, and stand back and think about what we are doing, why we are doing it, how we are doing it, what we and others are getting out it. Is it what we want, and how we want it. IF NOT. what are willing to do from there? Thank you again for asking MY OPINION. Johnny

The Struggle....a Way Home...

The Struggle Song gives listeners hope and reminds us that we all have struggles in common in our life's journeys. When we cling to the hope of seeing a way forward to that glorious time of reunion with those we love. I enjoyed this song even more with it's soft percussion and comforting guitar riff. The lyrics appeal to many regardless of their belief about the Sweet Bye and Bye. I loved the simple structure of this song and the memorable bridge. I always enjoy the Esther's voice which is ultimately ringing true with every word and so easy on the ears. Thank you for another great song Esther!

The Struggle

The words are great and very relatable. The back ground music is superb. The lead guitar is awesome. The harmony adds a lot to the song. We all go through struggles and this song communicates it very well. Thanks for sharing. God bless you richly. Have a great day. DE

Interesting effort by a talented group

Esther Swably has written a classic country song, with the benefit of the perspective that only years and wisdom can bring, encouraging the listener to persevere through troubled times. She is aided by tight vocal harmonies and a band that is rhythmically strong, taking her song into the realm of light rock and roll. This fusion of sweet old Christian lady and rowdy band works reasonably well this time, given the message of this song. The take-off is a bit rocky, as the lead guitar has not reached the end of his phrase when the lead vocal comes in unexpectedly after 6 beats, but the bass and drums jump right in with the lead singer, and away they go, and all is well. It's a very odd introduction, and probably not what the band intended. It is difficult at times to make out the words Esther is singing. Her vocal is not quite far enough out front of the band, and this matters in Christian music, because the ministry is in the lyrics. The band needs to be mixed nice and robust like this for light rock, so go ahead and crank the vocals too. The lead guitar lays down a very tasteful and skillful solo for the first 8 bars. However, the break then continues another 8 bars, during which the lead guitar player tries to do too much, and ends up sounding a bit sloppy toward the end. At about 2:16 into the song, there is an extra word "Don't," as the gang heads into the final chorus. I'm not sure if this word is intended to be there, or if it was a mistake that didn't get corrected, or an error in editing. Honestly, it sounds like a mistake. And it's in harmony, which makes me wonder if the harmony is not being generated automatically as Esther sings. At the end of the song, the lead guitar takes another ride, and is in the middle of a phrase when the song ends, as if he was surprised it was over so soon. This band is interesting, because of what they are trying to do. Whether they can ultimately fuse sweet old Christian lady effectively with rock and roll remains to be seen, but their efforts are getting better. The talent is clearly there.

my thoughts

First of all thanks for being on #1 music. The guitar intro is good and so is the lead work in the turn around. That guy can play. The band in general is really good, tight. You can tell they work together often. The song is OK for me. Personally it seemed a little wordy in places. Meaning you could of said the same thing with less words. Your singing was good and I could tell you were singing your own harmonies. Sounded good. Thank you !!

Timely piece

This song brings to mind and heart the famous verses of this season. This song reflect the coming glory. Arise and shine for your light has come. Although darkness covers the earth and thick darkness the peoples; on you Adonai will rise;over you will be seen his glory.Nations will go toward your light and kings toward your shining splendor. The Struggle

Good morning Esther. I surely wish that you would have mixed your voice a bit higher so that I could hear the words better. You might have wanted to lengthen the musical intro before you started singing. You have a very easy voice to listen to. At times it seems to crack like mine, but that adds a certain quality of realism & genuineness. You have done a great job creating a good soundtrack, but I had to listen to the song a couple of times before I was clear about your words, and hence your message; and a very encouraging message it is. Did you do your own background harmony? Very good. Blessings, Trev. :)
