About Ezequiel S. Barrera
Ezequiel S. Barrera began discovering his musical abilities under the guidance of his parents, the Gimeno-Barrera guitar duet; finally, deciding to follow piano studies. His main mentors were the eminent pianist José Antonio Morales, (Mexico) and the famous professor Marietta Orlov (Toronto). After his encounter with the Canadian composer Alexander Rapoport (September 2004), Barrera becomes interested in composing. Among his piano works we can recall the collection “Miniaturas”, the “Sonata No. 1 Mexicana” and his pedagogic work “Nodoka: Twelve little concert etudes”; the “Preludes GCBH” and the “32 Variations over a theme by Paganini” for solo guitar. His “Fantasía Mexicana”, the “Minuet and Rondo on a theme by Diabelli” and the “Paganini Variations” were works commissioned by the “Mexican Guitar Trio”. His “Fantasía Irini” was recognized in the “Diabelli International Composition Contest 2014-2015. (Germany). He has performed in diverse stages around the world including USA with the project “Let’s play together”. Canada with the “ Gala Concet” organized by “the General Consulate of Mexico”. The Mexico-Centro America tour which ended with the “first Piano festival Mexico-Honduras”. Chile and Germany, where his Sonata No 1 "Mexican" and his Fantasia: "Irini” were premiered. He has appeared as a soloist with diverse orchestras. His recordings include “Beethoven & Chopin”; “entre España y América”; “Nodoka, Miniaturas, Sonata” and “from a Master to an Apprentice”.
